Souda now not nudist?
« on: September 09, 2017, 04:06:33 AM »
According to a post on Capt. Barefoots site (http://www.voy.com/84161/5129.html) Nudism is now prohibited on Souda Beach, it was OK in July.
Can anyone confirm? we're back in 10 days and wont be making the walk that way if so.

So he's happy enough to take your money when they can't fill all the beds, but in peak season you're not wanted, how two-faced is that?

We're coming over today and probably spend 75% of time at Souda....... can we get a confirmation that Souda is still nudist .... would be a shame

We've been coming to Plakias for a few years and have frequented Souda on many occasions
The 'bed man' is called Victor and we have got to know him quite well - he is a reasonable guy!
We were there at the end of June for two weeks and there were 'rumblings' from a number of people (mainly at weekends from Greek and Italians)
They had, apparently, had the local Police involved and we were being told that there may be a 'cover up'(!!) needed during August
I don't think Victor (or the guy who owns the beds) had any alternative
Could be wrong of course....

Back next year  - hopefully Souda will still be nudist. If not - it could be 'The Far End' and getting involved in a towel fight or two!!

Can confirm that Souda IS NUDIST despite the signs. All of the eastern end and some of the middle section. Over 70 people at a rough count and no hassle. Guess its wise to avoid the 'high season' like other posts suggest

That's good news, back again on Tuesday and if the towel wars are still on, or the wind kicks up, that's our first alternative destination

In august, souda and most of the beaches that are visited by the Greeks, are nudist unfriendly, if you take the road uphill in the middle of souda and take the right to stay at the side off the hill you reach two remote beaches. The second one is Varsi beach. It has a cave so you have shelter. Next to it there is a private beach where there is a sweetwater shower. We spend the day nude for 4 times in august. 2  Days we had company from a couple (also nude)wich was camping at the cave.

I think that jerichrome means from the beach road take the turning by the Delfini taverna heading to Selia, then take the first left & follow it round to the left until you are above the end of Souda beach, keep on this road following the coast and you can drop down to two beaches, the second one is on google maps as Stavri beach.

Kalloni is right, the first beach is rather large, second is a lot smaller but has less wind and waves. ideal for snorkeling.
