Hello. Did use the mini bank while we were in Plakias, I have a Lloyds Visa Delta Card, but didn't notice if the banks accepted a Switch card or not..You should be safe with Visa.

 Hello.

We visited Ali and Dave a few times on our stay in Plakias. They were very helpful.
There shop is located down a side street, I think its the street with the pie shop at the top.(Follow the signs for the Youth hostel and you will soon find it).

Where to stay / sea view for disabled couple

Hello . We have just returned from Plakias and I don't think you will get anywhere with a seaview on the gorund floor unless you look out of town. Most of the seafront is shops and taveras with accomodation above. The Alianthos would possibly be a good option as they seem to have all the mod cons lifts etc.

PlakChat / Your last chance...

Hello we have just returned from Plakias and there did seem to be some kind of land clearing in operation around the Meltemi.
Dont know why the Alianthos needs to expand it is good where it is. Out of the way and fairly inconspicuos. It's one of the things I tell everyone about how the coastline is unspoilt and that there are no high rise Hotels.
Let the lager louts goto Malia and leave the lovely Plakias alone!!!!
John, while your in Plakias remember my family to Vasil, he's the waiter in The Gorgona (not far to go from Ostracos!). He was very friendly and our little boy thought he was wonderful ...

  Hi Everyone.

Can anyone give us some tips on simple Greek phrases. You Know the usual, Please,Thank you, numbers one to ten and How Much?!!!
Only ever been to Spain and America and we have managed to learn enough Spanish to get along and would like to learn the same amount of Greek.
Would much appreciate a quick lesson on the Greek language.
pronunciations would be grately appreciated as the phrase book we have borrowed is no use at all!!!!!!
Thanks for any help.

Gossip / 2003 news
« on: May 01, 2003, 11:59:33 AM »
Hi to everyone reading this message.

It's only just over a week until we arrive in Plakias for our first time. We can't wait.
Hello to Ali and Dave, as we are stopping self catering we will be visiting your mini-market to say hello and to pick up a few essentials!
How's the weather at the minute? Have been watching the forcast closely on tele-text and the temperature doesn't seem too good at the moment,we don't want a heat wave but the weather here is a bit wet at the moment so anything warm and sunny will be fine by us!
Will post any gossip we learn on our return from Plakias, will anyone else be there after the 9th of May?

Holiday Companies / 2003 offerings
« on: February 06, 2003, 01:21:40 PM »
We booked our holiday through First Choice but from a Sunquest holiday Brochure.
The choices are limited but they seemed very good value. We are managing to travel and stay in a self-catering one bed apartment for under £700. We think this very good value for a family of three.

Plakias / 1st visit
« on: February 05, 2003, 06:13:09 PM »
Hi. WE have booked our 1st holiday to Plakias. We will be travelling very early in May with our little boy who will be two years old. Please can anyone let us know what the weather will be like. We would also like to know if Plakias is child friendly and where the best places are to eat with a small child...
Has anyone visited Plakias this early in May and if so is everywhere open as we are aware we are probably travelling out of season...
As we are staying in self catering apartments (Nikos Studios), we have no pool. Will we be welcome at other hotel pools or will we be restricted to beach bathing only?
I realise there are many questions to answer but we are new to the Plakias experience and want to know everything.
Thanks. Alison,Paul and Luke.
