Hi Guys,
Still haven't booked yet for September (No early visit as we have just got back from Italy seeing the in-laws)
Didn't book before because of probation period in new job but now thats over and I am settled in I am itching to get it sorted.
I see nothing on First Choice, presumabley the flight is fully booked.
Looking to come out on the 6th of September for 2 weeks (can make the meal that way )
Anyone got any ideas?
Ali expect an e-mail soon begging for accomodation help
Good to be back.

Hope you can make those dates Paul - we'll be there for 2 weeks from Aug 31st.
I heard there's not a lot of accommodation left for this year - but I'm sure you'll manage something! Last time we checked, there was space in Dora, so it might be worth checking the Olympic brochure (their online booking is OK too)
See you in Ostraco (I haven't danced with an Italian lady for far too long...)
-
I would check that again as you would come out on the 7th not the 6th. If it's still a no go then an alternative would be to book the flight only (I have checked and they are still available) and arrange accommodation through Anso travel. We always do that and find it works very well.
We are going on the 7th so maybe see you at Gatwick!

What am I talking about
I meant Friday the 3rd although we could do a Tuesday departure I suppose (just means taking that extra day off work!).
Off to check with Olympic...
I'm sure we'll make it somehow even if we have to swim !
-
Good Luck with Olympic - We're out on 3rd but already having nightmares about getting to Gatwick early Fri. eve.
-
No luck with Olympic packages although there does appear to be space on the flight at £167 each. Nightmare times though, even worse than the First Choice charters.
What sort of price would we be looking at for 2 weeks studio accomodation?
Might just book 'em anyway. Can always kip on the beach!
Cheers

Hi Ploppy
Have a look at http://www.interkriti.net/hotel/plakias/anna-apts/ (http://www.interkriti.net/hotel/plakias/anna-apts/)
These are very spacious and well maintained studios in a quiet location - not far from the Youth Hostel. If you email Anna direct at the address given on the web page you can probably do a better deal than the prices quoted for a 14 day stay. You won't get Room 4 though because we have already booked it!
Regards,
Allan

Here's a link to Morpheas - around 40 Euro/night/room
http://morpheas-apartments-plakias-crete-greece.com/# (http://morpheas-apartments-plakias-crete-greece.com/#)
Olive House, on the outskirts is cheaper at 32 euro/night - link http://olivehouse.kreta-sun.com/contact-en.html (http://olivehouse.kreta-sun.com/contact-en.html)
Lots of other possibilities you can find with a goovle search, good luck.

Thanks for the accomodation info, thats what we need cos I just booked the flights Hurrah!
Quite interested in the Anna Appartments, what sort of walk is it to the beach from there?
Any more appartment advice?
Thanks again
Paulie

Have a look at Anso Travel (http://www.ansotravel.com/rentals.html)

Thanks Susan
Looks like I'll be firing off some e-mails today.
Going to be a nice weekend as well, start on that tan!
Oh happy days

Re the distance from Annas to the beach , it depends which end of the beach you use! The studios are about 150 yards from Medousa (where we had our inaugral meeting last September). From there you walk around the back of Alianthos and cross the road to Meltemi. Anna's is nearer to the 'nice' end of the beach than say Costas or Dora.

Ploppy, may be able to get you an apartment where we will hopefully be living soon, it is at the end of the beach behind Parigremnos (can't spell tonight) is that too far out? Let me know the dates and I will speak to the guy who rents the apartment if you are interested.

Hi All,
We have always stayed at Oasis, in the lovely appartment there. Just a little out of town, but it keeps us fit walking up and down the hill. We dont feel too bad, as we know that whatever we eat will be burned off walking back.
We booked our flights through Airborne travel, can you believe that we paid £139 each, that included accomodation for 14 nights (bargin). We are not staying at the accomodation in Malia, we are using it as a flight only, and returning to lovely Plakias, with some friends, who are bored with us going on about how we love the place. They decided that they wanted to see what we are always raving on about. Anyway only got to wait until the 25 May ...... . May be we will bump into some of you that are going to be out there at the same time.
Bye for now, hope you all have lovely holidays this year.
Regards Sarah
-
Blimey Sarah thats a good price, less than we are paying for flight only. Looking at your previous posts you are a master bargain hunter, give me some tips cos I want a new digital camera
-
Sorry, only good with bargin flights/holidays to Plakias. Good luck with the camera, once you have one, don't forget to post some more lovey pictures of Plakias on the site for us to reminisce, at day gone by.
-
You can check out some Plakias photos at Ploppy Pics. (http://www.ploppy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk) As I couldn't be bothered to cherry pick they are all there including the naff.
I already have a digital camera but such is the burden of being 'Gadget Man' I want a newer and better one!

I always look through your Photo's Ploppy whenever I feel really stressed out. It's amazing what a calming influence they have!
Susan

Thanks Susan, I've just been browsing through them and you're right a warm fuzzy feeling overcame me!
Frustrating thing is though I have to wait until September for the real thing
-
Yes, we go in September so see you there. We are going to Lesvos in June. Not been before but looks nice.

Thanks for the reminder about the photos, can remember seeing them before, but it is still nice to view them again and again and again. We have loads and loads of photo albums of great holidays in Plakias. Our friends have never been before so it was a good excuse to get them out again, and reminisce over a few glasses of wine. Well we only have 25 days to go!!! and counting every second until we return
-
Lesvos was my first Greek Island Susan - and I've been back to Greece every year since! Says it all!
It's over 20 years since I'v been, but I'll go back one day
-
John
I first went to Corfu 22 years ago and fell in love with Greece then. As much as we love Plakias and make it our main holiday, we want to spend a week exploring other Islands. This year it's Lesvos which looks really pretty. There is even a virtual tour of the village we are staying in. All the tavernas look really nice jutting out over the sea. Don't suppose it will be a patch on our beloved Plakias but it's nice to try somewhere else as well.

Ploppy
PLEASE put me out of my misery! WHERE are you booked in?
Yvonne
-
Hi Yvonne,
Just this week I have confirmed that we are booked in to ????????
Ahhh the power...
Muuuwaaaa muuuwaaaaaa
Sorry don't know what came over me!
We are booked in to Annas apartments after a very helpful e-mail exchange
Paul
-
Hi Paul,
I assume that you are referring to Annas in PLAKIAS and not Annas in MYRTHIOS (make sure that the taxi takes you to the right one!). We are there also from 2 to 16 September so we had better get in a bottle of Raki for your arrival.
Regards,
Allan
-
Hi Allan,
Yes ANNAs in Plakias.
We will see you there for that Raki!
Take care,
Paul
-
Hi Paul, From what we saw last year you will definitely like ANNAs. What flights did you get in the end - Olympic, First Choice? - Useful info in case we leave it too late to book from a brochure next year.
-
Hi there,
We booked through the Olympic website for our Monarch flights which worked out quite a bit cheaper than First Choice (Air 2000) flights.
