I have just found a 1 hour old report which says :-

A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 has struck the southern Greek island of Crete, rattling residents but causing no injuries or damage, authorities say.

The quake struck at 3.20am (10.20am AEST) and had an epicentre 385km southeast of Athens, in the Zakrou area of eastern Crete, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.

Seismologists said it was not related to the very strong 6.5 earthquake that hit western Greece on Sunday. That quake, near the western port city of Patras, killed two people, injured more than 200 and flattened or severely damaged more than 200 houses.

Didn't feel a thing in Plakias, but then I had been at the Siroko with many after dinner ouzos with Babis, so I was probably sound asleep.
