Just returned home today... its official - Lysseos does the best food in Plakias, leagues ahead of any of the others. And the service is excellent too

I qm amazed to see ths thread still going strong a year after i started it and delighted to see another thumbs up for the Lyssoes . Please help whet my appetite Ems - my favourites include the kleftiko , lamb in the oevn , chicken skrtado , pork afelia , the roasts , the stuffed pork .. cant remember others but I usually manage two weeks without repeating anything until the last couple of days when i revert to my favourites .
 anything new this year ?
 roger

baby goat is indeed delicious, as is the rabbit merenge. not sure if there was anything new as such, although I tried the chicken curry this year for the first time and it was amazing. Gutted I didnt get to try the pork lemonata... or the afore mentioned gateaux!!!  ... we had the same tactic as you, try everything !

Better than Italian..?!   Where did you eat in Italy???
Next time you must look for "Trattoria", that is the same as Greek Taverna...

erm... ok so Ive never eaten it in Italy! I meant the UK italian restaurant version!   ...and to prove it I had a bl**dy horific one in Bella Italia yesterday!!

Where to eat...or not! / carbonara recipe?
« on: August 31, 2006, 10:42:58 AM »
Slightly off topic, but the greek spaghetti carbonara I had in various restaurants in Plakias was the best Ive ever tasted (especially at the Paligrimnos studios), far better than the Italian variety. Does anyone happen to have the recipe the Greek islanders use?

Where to eat...or not! / The Balcony at the Ostraco
« on: August 31, 2006, 10:37:28 AM »
the balcony is definately the place to be after dinner... excellent cocktails, friendly staff & music videos (which become hillarious after you realise they play the same ones every night!)

Where to eat...or not! / Medousa

we found service at Medousa painfully slow even on a quiet night, and the food was very average

Could anyone who has been to Plakias recently and , like me , regards the Lysseos  as a really good restaurant , help to whet my appetite . Is the food there as good as ever ? Any notgable additions to the menu or just the usual excellent dishes - the roasts , lamb in the oven , pork afelia , chicken skordata , duck a l'orange , and above all , kleftiko - by far the best kleftiko i have had because it is the Cypriot  version and not the Greek one = the chef is a Cypriot
Three weeks tonight and I will be sampling  my first meal there = and be spoilt for choice

We got back from Plakias this week... Lysseos was definately our fave place to eat. Their baby goat & rabbit in wine is also very good!
