TIMBAKI CONTAINER PORT

Can I just say that the Cretan people have preserved the Island so admirally, built on conservation, good food, cleanliness and good people, and then looms the Timbaki Port development.  What benefit can it possibly have for the people of Crete or the Island.  They have already signed a deal with the Chinese and there is little evidence that there will be jobs created for the locals.  The biggest fear is the pollution and litter problems caused by such terminals and I wonder if Southern Crete will ever have the same appeal as it has.
I know very little about the project however if anyone knows more please keep us updated.  I found this site which may be worth signing up to.  From my own research the port is seen as very damaging by the local people.
