Gorgona is still owned by Kostas and A.N. other (and also probably Chrysoula).
Giorgos has married this year and is living in the Netherlands (I believe Kostas said Rotterdam). I believe it is also a new Chief as the food is not as good, Grandmas Pork nothing like as good as it was.

Has anyone been looking at the Paleaochora beach webcams recently, the last 2 days the beach has been nearly deserted and the weathers looks great all along the south coast. It must be terrible for all the businesses on the Island.
It would have been nice to see what Sfakia was like but none of the cams has worked for months, Probably have a drive up there Sept/Oct and give them a bit of trade with lunch by the harbour.
Matala looks quite busy though today

Still on for the 20th. Tui cancelled our flight with Olympic, so our stay at Sofia Hotels gone. (16 week wait for refund)
So got very reasonable flights out with Jet2 and back with Easyjet, Car hires booked, and 23 nights at Castello arranged.
Nothing else can possibly upset our plans can it?

I can't agree Richard. Levels of 'bad behaviour' post lockdown are much higher than usual for this time of year. To be fair, I think it's a reaction to the heavy restrictions and closures which were in place, and hope it will calm down over the next few weeks.

But living in an area which has had a very low rate of infection compared to the rest of the country, I do worry about what will happen when we get an influx of 'grockles'. I know we need holidaymakers to support the local economy. We need their cash in the south-west, but what else will they bring with them?

I'm insulted by the term 'Grockle' it a word that should be banned, I'm going to start a new movement - the G.N.H.T. +, .........The 'Grockles Need Holidays Too' movement, we'll come down there and throw you locals into the dock.

LOL, seriously where will it all end?

Just found some details about the new all inclusive resort, Going to be called the Alegria Beach Resort Plakias, 103 rooms / apartments, All Inclusive stay available. Some details and artists impressions on a Scandinavian Holiday companies site (Apollo), just Google it (and use translate) for 3 pages of results. Also now been listed on Olympics site for next summer, but not much information other than the price (over £1200 pp 14 nights) next September.
Certainly going upmarket now, wont be long before all us commoners are turned back at the gorges.   :D :o

Should have added that we hope you have a great Christmas and New Year out there, and also extend that to the rest of the ever dwindling forum users
