Which beach is this?
« on: July 02, 2007, 09:29:06 PM »
I have previously posted the following picture on the board, saying that it was Damnoni beach, pre-hapimag and pre-umbrellas. No-one questioned it at the time. However, comparing this with a modern picture, I don't think it's Damoni beach at all. So is it Souda beach? I don't have any recent pictures of Souda as I haven't been on the last couple of trips to Plakias.

It could be an old one of Souda, but I can't see the bars at the end. The roads now tarmac and the new road over the dinosaur is missing!

It is souda beach due to the shape of the mountain at the top of the picture !

Would agree, this looks like pre- Taverna Galini as well !
A thoroughly recommendable way to spend a long, long lunch........

Last time I was at Souda, (05 - was it that long ago !!) I thought the beach was very dirty with lots of rubbish both in and out of the water, certainly up near the rocks. Pal and I snorkeled right round the rocks where the water got very much cleaner and clearer and a lot more fish life as well.

It is definately Souda beach, was only there the other day, didn't actually go on beach or swim there but sea was very clear & beach looked clean.
