Plakias / Physiotherapy
« on: October 12, 2016, 08:56:52 AM »
Just a recommendation for Antonia Daskalaki, physiotherapist in Plakias.  My wife was suffering from sciatica on holiday recently but Antonia was able to recommend exercises that helped with her pain and mobility.  So if you are having problems worth a try. Her surgery is back in the olive groves but you can get directions/info from Moto Auto Plakias on the front.

Well October actually.  Has been wonderful weather over the last few days and set to remain, so enjoy those of who are coming out tomorrow.  We go home which is a shame but all things come to an end.
Til next time......

Just starting our second week here in Plakias.  Yes it is breezy but nothing by Plakias standards and it keeps the clouds and humidity away so not complaining.  Been on the beach every day no problem.
For those who might not be aware if it is windy in Plakias try Damnoni, Amoudi or other nearby beaches - they are nearly always more sheltered.

Lucas and Lito still serve a mean Lysseos salad.  Ham, cheese, tomato, onion, cucumber, lettuce topped with egg and mayonnaise.  As you remember almost a meal in itself!

Autumn flights 2016 now on sale a few hours earlier than Easyjet advised on their website.  £210 inc baggage and extra legroom from Edinburgh.  At least £100 cheaper than Jet2 and others.  Roll on September!

Why not go independent?  We have for last 15 years or so and even more choice of flights now with easyjet etc.  And you can book the accommodation you want.

No, I don't know a Nancy so a different Ian.  But yes we had a great time as always.  Weather a bit iffy at times but the sea wonderful to swim in.

I agree, can't say that prices had increased much, if at all.  Still great value for money regardless.

Thanks for heads up!  I didn't get an alert from Easyjet so might have missed the best prices.  From Edinburgh good price even after bags and extra legroom

A bargain I would say.  Grab it while you can!

After several days of extreme heat and humidity the weather broke yesterday and the tourism festival was cancelled.  Has rained just about all day today though bright skies over and beyond Gavdos.  Hoping for better tomorrow but not convinced!

Where to eat...or not! / Re: Lysseos

Pleased to report Lysseos as good as ever having spent many nights there recently.  A few new dishes I was unfamiliar with but the old favourites still there.

Yes, and Easyjet now offering Edinburgh to Heraklion which is great news for us north of the border who have had extremely limited choice of late.

Couldn't resist - 2 return flights in September with hold luggage and extra legroom less than £300.  Less than half the price of other carriers.

Plakias / Re: Plakias in slow decline

We too have been going for around 25 years and agree there have been changes but not too drastic I'm pleased to say.  In the early days there were more backpackers and fewer tourists had cars to run around in.  Also no brollies on the beaches.
The walk to Souda in these days took some effort - dirt track which led much further up the hill before heading back down again.  And scrambling round the rocks at the far end of Damnoni to get out of the wind.
Those were the days but it hasn't changed enough to stop me going back next June.
