Plakias / APAL Animal Protection & Life Line
« on: September 06, 2011, 11:18:11 AM »
Dear Animal Friends,

APAL needs your support! Due to the dire economic situation of Greece and the three-time increase in VAT to 23% now, everything has become more expensive: The price of gasoline and the flight charges for the fledging of the animals have almost doubled this year. At the same time, it becomes increasingly difficult to take animals to foreign countries, as agencies increasingly take care of animals from Eastern Europe, which of course are also in need of help. For our animals, this means a much  longer stay here on site and for us as a result of higher costs under shelter and care. Daily we are inundated with requests for admission, and attendant care for injured, abandoned and sick animals.

Our previous budget consisting of membership dues, donations and funding agency, is not enough to confront this new situation. For our help for the animals here in the region (and often beyond) continue to pay, we must embark on new paths.

With the help of sponsorships we can succeed together to cover monthly expenses sustained by the association which can no longer carry on otherwise. For as little as 10 euro's per month you can help.

If you can sponsor please go to www.finikas.de & for donations the details are below.

Where to go / Post Office
« on: September 02, 2009, 03:45:49 PM »
Hi All,

I have just heard from a friend that the Post Office was held up at gunpoint this morning, 8.30am aparently, it was pay day yesterday so there should have been a ton of money there but luckily & typically Greek the securicor van was late so they didn't get much! The place is surrounded by crime tape & there are police everywhere i'm told. Can't believe it in sleepy old Plakias

Holiday Companies / Excel Airways
« on: August 18, 2006, 09:40:52 AM »
Hi Everyone

We have booked with excel airways for the first time. I had heard bad things about them from a couple of people but just thought you can have a bad experience with any airline, but having just been reading some reviews on them i'm now now worried! I would welcome any comments good or bad from any one who has flown to Crete with them. Over the years as we do flight only we have flown with pretty much every one & generally all have been ok with the exception of a British Midland flight years ago & this June Thomsonfly, was first time with them and not impressed worst experience yet, hence now wondering if Excel will be worse?

Look forward to your comments
