Looks like just another government regulation to be widely ignored!  I love Greece!

Hmmmmmm. I am sure that the new rule will be universally respected..... Sounds like a load of rubbish to me, I haven't ever been dissatisfied with the oil on offer in Plakias, although maybe that's not the case everywhere?

Hello Yvonne. We often think of you and those olden days when we could both walk easily(That's us 2)
Brain cells dwindling at the same rate as muscles but at least we're still here
Oh how I would love to come back to Plakias via Chania, Kissamos and Paliochora again but so often in life I find it's best not to return lest reality proves so far from memory
Having both finished work now it means mostly a 24/7 relationship
How are you both faring?
Wouldn't you think Greek politicians would have more to do than bring in new olive oil regulations?
Surely diners with any taste buds would soon boycott restaurants with counterfeit olive oil !
I never did have the drink I promised myself on the Ostraco balcony :( ... but we did have that lovely "misguided" tour via the Grape press cafe :)
Those were happy days and I wouldn't have missed them for the world
Love to you both
SoR

Has caused some concern. It's about the ban on the olive oil bottles made available with the salt, pepper and vinegar. I guess in some places they found it had not been refilled or changed for ages and was substandard. The original suggestion was to introduce individual sachets of oil...........which adds to the unnecessary plastic in the world. I suspect most places will still offer oil but, perhaps, from a bottle kept behind the bar. I can't see this lasting long but can understand why the Govt wants to improve standards.....not that I've ever had a problem in Plakias !

Was on holiday on a different island in June. Only in one place did they serve olive oil in a sachet  cost €1. To be honest, there wasn't enough for my Greek salad! Everywhere else were bottles, no problem.

It is very interesting that this week in Plakias, most tavernas have either no olive on the table ( you have to ask for it) or it is in very small own label bottles.
A sign of the times ?

We were in Foinikounta, near Kalamata, this June, and the Olive Oil was only available in bottles if you paid for it, obviously sticking to the rules for once!

Back in Plakias in 3 weeks time - Woo-Hoo!!
