You are assured of a friendly welcome at this unassuming restaurant situated next door to the O Tasomanolis with a nice view of the western side of Plakias bay.  There may not be very many diners when you visit but don't let that put you off: this place is a real gem.

For a start, the service here is arguably the best in the whole of Plakias: it is quick and attentive.  More likely than not, during your meal someone - either the waiters or the owner - will come up and ask if you are enjoying your food, something which I have not experienced in any of the other tavernas.

My entrée was a tomato salad which, though simple, was made interesting with garnishes of other vegetables and herbs.  On a previous occasion I had a Greek salad which was enormous.

For my main course I had grilled tuna fish.  (If you're feeling flushed you can order various fish in the €60 bracket.)  The steak was huge.  I never realised tuna had such a delicate flavour, even bordering on the bland comparing it to the canned stuff you get in the shops back home.  It was served with french fries and a little tomato and green pepper salad.  On my previous visit I had pasta with fruits de mère.  It was well-presented, huge and very tasty (though a little messy on account of the shrimps being unpeeled - I used up three serviettes!).

I had a Mythos with my meal.

Apart from being delicious, the food here is excellent value: my bill came to €13.30, and arrived with the customary raki and sweeties.  I actually left this restaurant smiling!

They also have apartments attached to the taverna about which, however, I know nothing.  There is an e-mail address for anyone wishing to make enquiries: atlantis-apartments@hotmail.com.

This taverna has changed hugely since I wrote the comment in 2007.  WE have always found the staff very attentive and the food is slightly different from the other tavernas but really good.

Some friends of ours had a very disappointing experience a couple of nights ago.  Many dishes from menu not available so 1 friend opted for Kalamari and chips which came out totally burnt.  Tried to eat it but it was inedible and when the staff asked why she wasn't eating it did nothing to rectify the matter and charged for it on the bill.  Not what I call service.
