The link above mentions the beach and how to get there

I found also another site, with some info on Gadvos. Go to:
http://www.barefoot.info/crete/sthcrete.html

The last part, you'll find a Gadvos section, with description of some beaches.

The magbaztravels site is of 1997 vintage     so if anyone has more up to date information regarding accomodation, it would be great if they could share it with us.
The Cap'n Barefoot site on the other hand is very informative, and particularly useful to those interested in the clothes-optional question!

The bay where we ate, drank, slept and swam was lovely. The water was so warm (noticebly warmer than Plakias).
Yes, that's what I want!
Do you confirm the time to reach is about 1.5 hour (each time)?

Probably because it is so shallow, I swam out a good 50-100M and it was still only up to my waist!
     I must be in there!
Maybe you too want again...?
Look for me going in Plakias at late September...
(first time! I need also good friends to teach me the tips )
Beachcombeeeers! I'm coming!!!

Check the timetable of the ferry Chora Sfakion - Gavdos in late September
21 Sep- 10 Oct Sat Sun only
1-20 Sep Fri Sat Sun only
AND weather permitting!

Thank you dear
But what about the PLAKIAS ferry ???
I've read somewhere that there are every Sunday ships heading from Plakias (10am, back 4pm)..
You know if it is true?

I can't recollect the exact times or the day but I certainly remember a service to Gavdos similar to the one you describe above.

Yes Lefteris runs a service to Gavdos (which we used last year), although I would call it more of a day trip than a ferry.
Although I expect he would happy to take one way traffic if there was room on the boat.

Remember his boat is a lot smaller than a ferry boat so is probably more affected by inclement weather.

Paul.

Any idea when the boat stops going out to Gavdos from Plakias?

Hoping to spend a week or so there early October but I'm prepared to have to come back to Crete via the ferries to Chora Sfakia or Paleochora.

Thanks

I think you wil have to ask Lefteris from the Smerna Bar, I think it depends on the weather and how many passengers he wil have.

Thanks Steven - I thought that might be the case - sounds like its pretty windy at the moment! maybe there is more chance of a crossing in October.
