One of the blights of Damnoni was the awful derelict hotel (was it called the minoan princess or summat?)

well....it's gone,

now the bad news, i heard that it's been demolished so that Hapimag can extend their time shares further

Ah, Harribobs, Hapimag bought the site several years ago.  I guess they are now in a position to develop it.  Shame.

It was called the Minoan Prince.

Did it ever actually open?  I've only ever seen it in a derelict state.

The hotel hasn't been demolished - it's still there. At least, most of it's still there - just one end of it has been carved away by bulldozers. When I was there a couple of weeks ago they were erecting a fence alongside the part that had been carved away, so it looked as though the rest of it was going to stay.

I think it was called the Minoan Princess and I am sure it was never opened as it was never completed. It was in the same derelict state way back in 1990, although the palm trees weren't as big.

well this is a picture of Damnoni back in May ( probably 19th) and most of the hotel was demolished then, leaving only a few bits at the front, the bulldozers were still working as i took the shot, you can see the big trucks that were taking away the rubble and the flattened area above where the hotel once was

have they re-built it?

Ah, I hadn't realised how far back it went. When I say "most of it is still there" I am talking about what you see as you walk past the front of it along the back of the beach. When I was there it was still in the same state as on your photograph and it didn't look like they were going to continue and demolish the rest.
