Hello Dotty,we go out on the 18 th May this year.Last year we went for easter ie 22nd April for 2 weeks, first week the weather was a little cool in the evenings but generally sunny and warm during the day.expect a mixture of Sun and cloud with possibility of a little rain, but heck its so peaceful and the spring flowers are a nice bonus.

Hi K/K thanks for quick reply we are looking forward to our visit and to seeing the differences in the early versus later part of year. We are only sorry that because of the changed months we will be missing friends we have met before. I suppose we can't have everything. Hey John have you booked yet?

Hi,

The first time I went to Plakias was way back in 1990 on a rambling holiday, but it was the last week in April and the first week in May. From what I can remember of the weather it was mixed, i.e. some days it was hot and sunny - sunbathing weather without being overpowering - and other days it was overcast (or partially) and good walking weather, but a sweater was needed at times. I don't remember any rain or the high winds that I've come to expect when I've been since in the summer. In the evenings we usually ate inside. The good things are that you will see all the spring flowers and if you venture down the Samaria gorge, there'll be water in the stream.

Hello

Have just joined this bulletin board.  We will be going to Plakias on 7 May this year for 2 weeks.  Have not been in April, but have been going to Greece for several years in May and have always had good weather - maybe a little rain on one or two days but mostly hot and sunny. We were in Plakias 2nd and 3rd week of May last year and it was really hot for early season, in the 90s, and warm enough to sit outside in the evenings but we were plagued by mozzies, more so than on any other holiday - so if anyone has some tips on keeping them away we would be interested.

I'm not affected by Mozzies much myself but some of my acquaintances from the alt.travel.greece newsgroup seem to think that Fenistil gel, which you buy in Greece, is the best thing to use.

Hello Rose & Gary, Plakias is one of the few places I have not been bothered by Mozzies whether by luck or the Tea Tree oil I'm not sure so will keep using T/T and fingers crossed.
