Where to stay / Paligremnos
« on: April 13, 2006, 10:00:48 PM »
O.K. So I'm a Scot but where is Paligremnos? After five years in Crete mostly in Plakias, I've missed it. Folk seem to rate it highly though for food and location too. We generally head out towards Prevelli and beyond  for beaches but I can't say I've seen it.

Where to stay / apartments in plakias
« on: April 13, 2006, 09:53:32 PM »
Hi,

We have stayed in Plakias town for the last three years at Limani Apartments near the harbour and have had great times there.  Only problem might be the second bedroom or the sofa bed in the lounge  area for the kids. E-mail Sofia katsaragaki
is great at he E-mail Address(es):  sofia_kats@hotmail.com

As a couple we have stayed in Limani apartments which are great for us but for an active family of 4, they may be restrictive. We don't think of that when we sit on our balcony with an ouzo and munchies as the evening air cools before ee head for dinner in town.

We are staying there for a week in June and then taking a villa for the second  week, by which time we will be well chilled!!!

Have a great holiday

I was wondering if anyone has stayed at the following apartments. They all seem pretty nice. We're a family of 4 (2 small kids). We'll be there in late June; it's our first time to Crete. We like quiet, and  we like views.

The three apartments are:

1. Elgini Studios (very cheap, looks like great view, no extra bedroom, between plakias and souda, nice grounds)

2. Serakina Studios (50 E, excellent view, airconditioning, most upscale with wood beams, a bedroom, largest, also between Souda and Plakias)

3. Anemos Apartments (45 E, closest to town, with a ten minute walk; can use pool at local hotel; a bedroom, nice kitchen, a view of Myrthios and a bit of the sea)

We are really torn, and I thought I might send this forum an email to see if any of you know or have stayed at any of these. All are advertised by travel agencies as well as the owners personally.  But there may be pitfalls I do not know.

Any thoughts???

Thanks-can't wait to visit!

Plakias / new villas in plakias
« on: April 10, 2006, 04:35:35 PM »
Hi Sheryl,
Thanks...will look for Phillipos in June and hope to see round the villas. I'll mention your providing the info and pics!
Know what you mean about keeping the South Coast to yourself! I had a couple of breaks in Retimo/Chania but once through the Samaria Gorge and having stayed in places like Loutro to let the legs repair, and Plakias, we're hooked on the South.
It sure is a small world...I'm in Melrose, for now, but originally a Gala man and spent many a wet and windy afternoon at Riverside, watching not playing.  For now though, Plakias June 2006 can't come soon enough.

hi doggie
if there is no one in the villas, tell the owner (phillipos) that sheryl said to come and look at them and he will give you a guided tour - there really smart inside.
have to admit to being curious, looked at your profile - your just up the road, im in jedburgh.  i've never seen anyone on this forum from the borders before, its a small world

Plakias / new villas in plakias
« on: April 04, 2006, 08:18:02 PM »
Hi Sheryl,

Wish I'd known about the villas in Plakias before sorting this year's holiday in Plakias but that's showbiz. We are staying in Plakias for a week and then having a few days exploring the East of the Island finishing with a week in Lefkogia in a villa there which we found last year! Bit pricey but we had a car smash in November 2004 and needed a place to really chill for at least part of our break.

Will have a look at the villas when we are in Plakias from 6th June this year. Can't wait especially with that Siberian wind howling through the Borders! Makes the Plakias gorge whistles seem like the Sirocco!
