Plakias / Barny's two weeks!

Well thats me done till next year, i can't believe it went so quick, or did it? seems weird sometimes when you look back.
It had been windy prior to my arrival but i had 12 days of no wind and 2 days of a good breeze!
Everything was as good as last time, food in the Lyseous and harakas as good as ever, ate in Antonis place at lunch and many more.
Drank at Kyma every night, he now caters for the many Czech people who are arriving now with czech football and czech films in the evening, be warned!
The fountain has now changed into a meteorite ! you will see what i mean when you see it.
So really i had two weeks of pure relaxing in the day and resting in the evening with a cold Mythos or ten!
Pavlos needs more beer mats so if any one can help?
I stayed at Flisvos, very good rooms, clean and tidy every day highly recommended by me.
I used the taxi that was on this site, zach his name is, met me and took me back no problems, recommended by me.
I could go on forever about the place but you all know what its like!
Hope you all have a good time, don't worry about me at work in a room with no windows for eight hours a day! just let me know how it is.

                                               Barny.

Sounds like you had a good relaxing break, We will think of you for the next two weeks as we fly out on tuesday. Its our first time in Crete and it looks as if we have chosen a really good resort for a relaxing break. We will check out the places you reccomend to eat and drink. By the time we come back it will be two weeks closer to your next trip.

Don't work too hard.

Could anyone who has been to Plakias recently and , like me , regards the Lysseos  as a really good restaurant , help to whet my appetite . Is the food there as good as ever ? Any notgable additions to the menu or just the usual excellent dishes - the roasts , lamb in the oven , pork afelia , chicken skordata , duck a l'orange , and above all , kleftiko - by far the best kleftiko i have had because it is the Cypriot  version and not the Greek one = the chef is a Cypriot
Three weeks tonight and I will be sampling  my first meal there = and be spoilt for choice
 roger

Hi Roger if the food is as good as you say my Wife and I will probably see you in the Lysseos when you arrive.
Are you travelling alone or accompanied?
We arrive on the 15th and rather late in the evening I suspect.
Regards
John

Sorry to hear about the fire.
We are arriving on the 15th August for 2 weeks and stopping at the Lamon, we fly out from Birmingham.
We are really looking forward to the break.
Is anyone else on this forum staying at the lamon on those dates?
Can anyone tell me if there is a hole in the wall anywhere local?
26 days and counting.

Jaycy

there are about three or four ATMs in town now, they don't all seem to be working at the same time but usually a couple of them are

personally i don't leave it too late before getting cash out but lots of tavernas take cards now

cheers

chris

Thanks for that Chris, I don't like taking lots of cash with me ( probably cos I haven't got lots of cash). ATM are fine
Cheers
John

We are staying at the Lamon the same 2 weeks, but we are flying from Gatwick. I suspect we will probably be on the same transfer.

Hope to see you there.

25 days and counting.

I expect so, its quite a long transfer I believe.
It is our first time in Plakias, it looks to be just what we like in a Greek village. Relaxing and no drunken brits.
See you there.

Where to stay / Plakias Hotel

Thanks for the replies, we are looking forward to it.

We will have to take some cornflakes for breakfast I think.

As long as the sun shines and I can have a swim and a beer I will be happy.

Hi I have just booked the Hotel Lamon for 2 weeks next august, has anyone stayed there and can tell me what its like please?
How close is it to the harbour and would it be worth bringing a small fishing rod?
Thanks in advance
