PlakChat / Save the Cretan Landscape
« on: April 06, 2008, 05:58:07 PM »
not from me, but taken from Erno's site and worth signing I think

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I am the co-author of the book The making of the Cretan landscape. As you know the landscape of Crete is its greatest tourist attraction. There are now numerous proposals to build Golf courses on Crete to attract more tourists. This does not make sense: to destroy the stunning natural landscape for a homogenized, artificial one. The case of Cavo Sidero/ Itanos Peninsula in NE Crete where the famous oasis of Vai is, is particularly alarming. I have a petition to stop the construction of this golf resort:

Save the Cretna landscape

The Greek Supreme Court hearing for this development is May 9th, there is not much time. Can you help and promote this petition on your website?

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Jenny

more from Ekathimerini

Ferry accident

A passenger ferry carrying 608 people was damaged as it tried to dock in Iraklion harbor, Crete, the Merchant Marine Ministry said. None of the passengers aboard were hurt. The Lato was prevented from sailing back to Piraeus until the small crack in the hull of the ship was repaired.

Holiday Companies / WARNING BA Flights
« on: February 09, 2007, 10:25:29 AM »
as of Tuesday the 13th, BA will (very sneakily IMHO) introduce a charge of £120 per flight for extra bags on their short haul flights

the details are (apparently) on their web site but they aren't informing passengers until they check-in

hmmmm

Hi Friends

Finally, finally, managed to get the internet connection back on at home  (dont ask me what the problem was as even if I knew I wouldn't understand) - Chris knows though.

Just wanted to wish you all a very happy new year.

I couldn't get on the site since I left my old job.  Gone are the days when I could keep bobbing on the internet and checking out the news.  I now have a VERY busy job and my new employers have a very strict email policy.  I can only use internet and email for personal use before work, lunchtime and after hours.  It has proved impossible and even if I do manage to get on the internet it is extremely slow so much so I have not been able to do anything.  The other problem I had was that I couldn't get on the site because I couldn't remember my password and any attempts at getting my password emailed failed because the site was sending my password to my old email address  How truly frustrating.

Anyway its nice to be back and looking forward to holiday in May - all being well.  Already getting excited and making plans about where we will be walking this year.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and are not too skint - unlike me!  Roll on pay day!

Oops - logged onto Chris's computer and this message has appeared as if he has done it - sorry!  Will have to ask him how I log in as me!
