How about a Plakias book on real paper?!
« on: October 28, 2003, 10:27:24 AM »
Dear community!

I have been reading this board and Ostraco´s plakias site for a very long time and it´s a very fine thing! Though I`m not in my fourties yet I may be a little bit old fashioned and so I love books even more than screens. Wouldn´t it be good idea to create a book with contributions from people from all over the world who love this place like we do?! With all this people, ancient stories, photos, paintings, dishes, aromas, sounds ...and and and. Not only a print of this site. But the site could be the "goldmine" for it. We may find out a layout and everyone could add his own 4 sides [e.g.] and then we put them together, add this or that, stir well and ready.

We made things like that back in the good old times - when I studied fine arts - in a very cheap way via xerography. Everybody made his part x times  and after they have been put together with the others, everybody got his own book. That´s the cheap way. Or we print 250.000, sell it by amazon.com... Or... We have to think further about it...

I would be pleased to hear from you

Nice idea.  I for one would be very happy to contribute 4 pages and some photographs.  Maybe though its not such a good idea to be mailing paper contributions to dozens of different recipients.  I would have thought that we needed a common WORD template that we all used and posted our contributions to an editor who assembled the final document and then made it available for contributors to download and print.  A number of regular correspondents are IT specialists and no doubt they could work out a simple and effective solution.  Any volunteers???

Good idea, count me in for a contribution probably from the old days of the crazy dolphin and the antonis  taverna etc !  Hope it takes off.

Good morning!

I think it might work if everybody who wants to add his contribution would send x pieces [ x= number of involved people]of his work [plus a self-adressed envelope with an international valid stamp] to a central collecting point and manufacturer. [If there´s no one worse than me willing to do this I would do...] There it could be all mounted together and be placed inside a nicely designed cover. As soon as the book is ready it will be sent back to each in the s.a.envelope.It sounds like a mail-art-project...
The nice thing about it: everybody will get the same book, the work is nicely spread amongst the participating people and no money has to circulate around the world.

Thinking further...
