i don't really think it's being used as anything but they've certainly made it a very pleasant place to visit and perhaps take a few minutes

Just a few enquiries about my wife and I trip to Plakias in mid Sept.

4. Is it safe to walk back from Mirthos? after midnight?

I agree with all George says. Re walking after midnight from Mirthios then yes the roads may be more suitable (much longer) than through the olive groves if you are not familiar with the route. I would advise a torch either way and we would feel perfectly safe going through the groves late at night as we know the route well. I don't think that there is a "security" issue as such.

Try this : pick up the phone  especially on a saturday night , mind the time difference, dial 00306974800545
 Now , if it is 11 o clock greek time , there is an extremely large possibility that the lady that will pick up the phone is having a drink in Ostraco bar, actually within the premises !
 In the possibility that she's not say " hallo, would you be so kind to tell me the phone number of ostraco bar? You'll probably find that she's gonna be very polite and helpfull, unless she changed her phone number !
