Antoni's place is definitely worth a visit.  Good food, inexpensive, good service.  Has a nice feeling to it.
Up in Myrthios, our preference goes to Plateia.  Difficult to get a table at night.

I doubt they exist.  If so, I am very interested as well.  I think the boats that go to Gavdos only leave from Paleochora or Sfakia.  Hugo

We have been flying Ryanair to Chania for the last couple of years and we find it much better than Heraklion.  Quicker and less hectic.  Be a little careful when you fly back because they change gates once and a while, but always announce it over the speakers in Greek and English.  Enjoy.

We are arriving on September 30 and staying at Stellas for the first time for 3 nights.  Afterwards, we are staying for 4 nights at Chrisanthi in Myrthios.  And then another 5 nights in Kamilari.  This is our 10th year to Crete and the Plakias area.  From all the good comments we hear, we are looking forward to staying at Stellas.  Can anyone let me know where it is located exactly?

We went in October 2012 for the day with the ferry.  There are still several ferries a day in October, probably not as many as in summer, but enough if you want to stay for a night.  Beautiful village.  Hugo

Thank you for the update.  I am happy for all of you being there this month that the weather has been good and for the people in Plakias and Crete that tourists continue to come.  We are looking forward to our next vacation on the island.

We have been there several times in September and even until the end of October.  Occasional day of rain at the end of October.  The majority of the tavernas and cafés stay open until the end of October.  We love that period and are sad we cannot go a second time this year.  You will not regret it8

We wanted to do it this year in May, but you need to stay overnight and take the ferry from Chora Sfakion or from Paleochora.  You can find timetables on the following website http://www.anendyk.gr/, but they differ from month to month.  You can also find lots of info on the following website http://www.gavdostudios.gr/.
If all goes well, we will give it a try next year in May or June.

We were in Crete last year for 2 weeks as of October 4, first week in Kamilari and second week in Mirthios and had lovely weather.  We have been several times between the end of September and the end of October and have had quite good weather all the time, with exception of one or two days of rain or wind.  We love that particular period: it is getting quiet and usually not as hot as the summer months.

We hope he will be able to visit his island later this year and send us more info and nice pictures.  His postings have given us lots of ideas during our last trip in May.  We hope to see more tips very soon and wish him a speedy recovery.
