On our fisrt night we tried the Mendousa. We had a very good meal and paid what we thought was a slightly pricey bill. This did not put us off and went back the next evening much to the joy of the owner who told us he had given us the wrong bill and owed us 12 euros. Needless to say we eat there a great deal. Does anyone r
emember this happening in England?

Glad you enjoyed your time in Plakias and at Medousa. Thinking about our previous times in Plakias, I realise we should have eaten at the Medousa more often as my memories are of good food in a very relaxing setting - a restaurant you're never in a hurry to leave

Your experience does not surprise me. We know the Medousa well and have always had excellent food there.
The owner, Babis, is one of life's gentlemen, honest and trustworthy. I'm surprised he didn't give you a free glass of wine too!
At the beginning of the season, when things are quieter, he often enjoys sitting with the customers and dishing out wine and an excellent reki, other wise known as tsikoudia.

we found service at Medousa painfully slow even on a quiet night, and the food was very average

Agreed. It is nearly always slow due to its popularity and the kitchen preparing the food on order. Some people do like the food and other places equally or better but generally there is praise for most of their dishes and high praise for their specialities. Any place can have an off night and anyone may have their own preferences.

We don't eat anywhere else - but that is not a condemnation of anywhere else.

Er Kidding about what -  because I don't eat anywhere else or that it is not a condemnation of other places.

I kid you not - for the last several years we have NOT eaten anywhere else in Plakias. It just happens that it suits us - boring but true. I am a food fad and My wife particularly likes their Greek dishes and specials and I like the rest with the kitchen caring for my fads so it is just fine for us. We like Babbis - he likes us etc. etc. It is not much more boring than returning exclusively to Plakias year after year which I assume you and most others on this forum do not find strange. There are indeed one or two other people who eat there exclusively - admittedtly not many. Most of our friends ring the changes.

I totally respect and indeed recommend that most people should try other places etc. etc. and not do what we do. but with all due respect I'm NOT kidding

Oh dear are we not allowed our own opinion. We too love the Medousa We also love other Eating places but if someone chooses to eat in one place only surely they have the right without being criticised. We know quite a few who stick to one place, this is their right surely?
