Staying at Paligremnos it was kinda amusing to watch people drive up in their cars at 7.30 to reserve their beds and then then drive off again to presumably have breakfast.  Seemed mainly the British. Bit like Groundhog Day, with exactly the same beds being reserved!

Just back. Sirocco was one of our favorities on previous visits- but very pleasantly surprised by the new owners. Very happy indeed with the food and service

Returning to Plakias next week, staying at Paligremnos, and wondering about availability of free WiFi? Any advice?

Plakias / The Freddie connection

Quote from: Sebbee
Just entering the second week of our fortnight's holiday, and have enjoyed the best weather ever, I reckon. Also just enjoyed our second meal at Vrisi, a newish restaurant up in Myrthios where Freddie - sorry, my mistake, Fredi, according to his football shirt! - everyone's favourite beach boy, spruces up in smart black to become Freddie, waiter extraordinaire, for the evening.  The decor  of this place is less traditional and spartan than, say, Myrthios's Platia, but I love the modern style and colours, and they have the comfiest chairs in town. The menu's nicely traditional but with a few different dishes, too, like baked haloumi, and all really well cooked and plentiful - the pastitsio has gone down particularly well with hubbee. And of course they have wonderful views over Plakias. So if you fancy a pre-dinner stroll up through the olive groves I can highly recommend Vrisi - it's just beside the water feature below the main road through Myrthios, with a choice of two footpaths leading down to it from the road, one to the right of the kafenion, one just beside Platia, or if you're driving up from Plakias there's a road off to the left just before you enter Myrthios. Or you can walk or drive up from Plakias through the olive groves by the youth hostel road.
I have pics which I can't attach when I'm not on my home computer - they'll follow!

We are just back from Plakias-and would concur that Vrisi was a great discovery this time-so much so that we ate there 3 times. It was very quiet-but quite delightful and very comfortable and being only marginally more expensive than in town.

We stayed at Paligremnos. We were a bit worried about the new development next door but that didn't detract from the joy of Plakias. When we were there, they were putting in the doors and finishing building the walls so still difficult to say when it will be occupied and whether it will indeed change the nature of the place. The far end seems the same as ever-with both lots of Fredi's blue umbrellas being occupied by the clothes shy brigade.

Plakias-on our fourth visit-remains utterly delightful.

Hi, Just booked 3 weeks in Plakias June into July, any one else going then.
We are praying for an England Greece match in the world cup, well you never know your luck.
Hope to bump into one or two of you while we are there.

By the way I have a bit of a web site if any of you would like to say hi or sen pics and the like. If so follow the link from my profile.

We too had the experience of a scary coach diver-but this was on the way to Samaria. He spent most of his time on the mobile phone or talking to and looking at the rep. on the coach. And when he wasn't doing that he was playing with his worry beads. Didn't work much for me though. I am sure there must have a few moments when he had both hands on the drving wheel....... But the guy who picked us up at Chora & drove us back to Plakias was excellent.

Well when we were in Plakias in  June we actually had a very good barbeque meal there. And I concur with the Manuel entertainment....Brian

Plakias / Where do you sunbathe?
« on: August 05, 2006, 09:30:17 AM »
Noticed in June this year that there were more naturist couples expanding (in the nicest possible sense) towards Plakias into the next section of sunbeds.

Also discovered the easten end of Souda which was OK when the sand blasting at the far end and micro amoudi was too unpleasant. A little oasis of calm!

Old or New?
Driving down from Mirthios we noticed a large unfinished building in the middle of the valley (towards Prevelli)-which looked a bit like a hotel. Does anyone know what this is-or was?

With all this talk about nude beaches I thought I might embarass the wife with a picture of her naked. She is under the blue umbrella
