I had a try at "massaging" things ... but all I got was -

Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed
so that's another good idea out the door

I suspect the only way to have a "visible" image in your post will be to upload to a hosting service .... there are lots around, Flikr, Webshots, and so on.  Google for "image hosting" and pick any free one that takes your fancy.

My most used ones are Webshots http://www.webshots.com/ (http://www.webshots.com/)
and Free My Image http://www.freemyimage.com/ (http://www.freemyimage.com/) (not as easy to use but does not have a "censorship" policy).

Oh, bum!  I forgot one quite important detail ..... -.bmp images are a bit-by-bit format, each and every bit is stored (and up/downloaded).  Sideshow Bob is relatively small so it doesn't make a big difference BUT for photos, it makes one helluva difference.

Always upload images as -.jpg (J-Pegs) or -.gif format ... they are compressed formats and take a fraction of the time/space of bitmaps (bmp).

Convert image formats by using an image-manipulating program, like Paint (eeek!), PhotoShop, Irfanview, GIMP, or whatever.  Just open the -.bmp and then "save as", selecting the desired format.

Thanks Chas - it's good to know I wasn't missing a trick. Normally I would use .jpg -but, as you said, sideshowbob was only a small file.

I edited the post and uploaded a .jpg and that seemed to work (I can see the image anyway). My main failing was not to look below the edit box so I hadn't seen the upload option :

Ploppy - I'm confused. If I reply to a message in this topic I get an attachment option beneath the edit box but when I do the same in the arcade messages, there's no attachment option.
