Where to eat...or not! / Lysseos
« on: December 05, 2007, 07:10:15 PM »
I have been to Lysseos in Oct. 2007 - and again: It was fantastic!!!
My favorite is the chicken in wineleaves - but whatever I ever ordered - it was always a big pleasure to have my dinner there.

Where to eat...or not! / Sirocco
« on: December 05, 2007, 07:06:38 PM »
For many years I really loved the food in Sirocco - but in 2007 I was rather dissappointed.

The quality of the food was not the same any more and the prices went up (I'd really prefer the other way round!)

One evening I passed by and saw some friends sitting there - so I stopped - sat down and had a drink (a lovely fresh orange juice). When I paid my orange juice I was not only charged (quite a lot) for the orange juice but also for cover bread (had no meal!!!) by the junior.

What has happened to this place?

Could anyone who has been to Plakias recently and , like me , regards the Lysseos  as a really good restaurant , help to whet my appetite . Is the food there as good as ever ? Any notgable additions to the menu or just the usual excellent dishes - the roasts , lamb in the oven , pork afelia , chicken skordata , duck a l'orange , and above all , kleftiko - by far the best kleftiko i have had because it is the Cypriot  version and not the Greek one = the chef is a Cypriot
Three weeks tonight and I will be sampling  my first meal there = and be spoilt for choice

I have been to Lysseios a few weeks ago - and I loved it again.

Has anyone heard of a Wi-Fi Internet access point in Plakias or nearby?

The Youth Hostel has got Wireless LAN now.
You may sit there on the terrace - have a nice beer and surf in the net.

PlakChat / Car Hire
« on: July 19, 2005, 11:37:00 AM »
Just returned from Crete. I stayed like usual in the Youth Hostel in Plakias.

As I arrived in the late night and I had only one week time, I decided this time to rent a car directly from Heraklio. (In Plakias I usually take one from Alianthos or Auto Moto Plakias).

This time I booked it from Citycar in Heraklio.
The regular offer in the internet was about 185 EUR per week for a Fiat Seicento with A/C. When I got in contact with Jorgos he made a even better price - and I got it below 150 for a week including all insurance.
The car was delivered to the airport and I could return it at the same spot.
It was very new and in a perfect condition.
