Hi Everyone.
Can anyone give us some tips on simple Greek phrases. You Know the usual, Please,Thank you, numbers one to ten and How Much?!!!
Only ever been to Spain and America and we have managed to learn enough Spanish to get along and would like to learn the same amount of Greek.
Would much appreciate a quick lesson on the Greek language.
pronunciations would be grately appreciated as the phrase book we have borrowed is no use at all!!!!!!
Thanks for any help.

What a great idea for a new topic! Shall I kick off?
Please - parakalo
Thank you - efharisto
How much - poso kani
Hello - yahsou
OK - endaxi
Slow down - siga siga
I want - thelo
Coffee - kafe
Beer - biera
I must say that English is very widely understood - though if you make the effort to speak some Greek, it will be well rewarded!
I'd love to see more of other peoples useful phrases

I like the idea too - I'll add a few more:
Kalimera - Good Morning
Kalispera - Good Evening
Kalenichta - Good Night
Mepos ekhete? - Do you have?
Dhomatio - a room
Ne - Yes (not to be confused with no)
Ochi - No (not to be confused with 'Och aye')
Ena/Mia - One
Dio (sounds a bit like Thio, 'Th' as The) - Two
Tria/Trios - Three
Tessera/Tesseris - Four
Pende - Five
Hexa - Six
Hepta - Seven
Ochto - Eight
[I can never remember this one] - Nine
Deka - Ten
Evro - Euro
I think that's enough for going on with.

I always get 7 and 9 muddled up.
So, if 7 is Hepta, then 9 is Enya!
