The sea looks a bit rough today, even if not as dramatic as the circumstances that Jackie reported!  Still, I'd rather be in Plakias than here - looking in on the webcam....

We were there for the last week of the (Olympic) season two years ago and had glorious weather with lovely swims from the almost-empty beach.  I hope it picks up for people out there now.

Yup......rougher than usual but there were still at least three people out there swimming ! Would have thought surfing would be more appropriate ! I check every day....sometimes more than once.....I feel it keeps me in touch. Makes me feel better !

Oh no.... Oh no no no no no! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Not your point entirely, Jackie, or even slightly, perhaps, I understand, but I feel a rant coming on.

No surfing without control.

There was an idiot on the beach a couple of years ago with one of those 'kites' that people fly above boards. Apart from nearly clobbering several people on the beach, getting it up (so to speak) and failing miserably when it came back to the beach, he made the water effectively inaccessible in the sense that 'you wouldn't this clown drowning you (wing comes down), or running you down (in the water)'.

Rant (justified?) over.

Richard

I'm right behind you there........we were watching the kite surfer and hw he/she didn't clobber someone I have no idea ! Apparently there are rules about limiting/banning all sorts of sea sports off Plakias - including jet skis. One turned up a few years ago, spent the whole afternoon polluting the water (there was a fine film of fuel over everything) and was then seen off by the outraged locals. There are too many resorts where this has taken over.......so I am also right behind the Plakias approach. I wasn't suggesting surfing should be introduced but, living in the West Country I know surfers brave all conditions...that was the point I was trying to make..obviously not very well !

Plakias weather's looking well grim today with thunderstorms tomorrow. Is everybody home and snuggled up with the central heating on or are some of you still out there enjoying everything else Plakias has to offer??? Been back 9 days now and missing it - and had my boiler serviced (no jokes please) just in time for our own foul weather to come.D

Sound? What sound? I have yet to hear anyone singing at The Livicon! No need to even shout out loud for a Mythos as Dionysos is always on hand.
Oh to be back in Plakias, somewhere must offer central heating, surely?

Hope the weather is as forecast ... sunny next week, as we are back to Plakias on Tue for a week, mind you we have been there before this time of year with some big storms and its quite something to watch almost none stop lightning and rocks the size of your fist being washed up across the sea front road.

It will be good to go Olive picking and Raki making and of course it would be rude not to taste it !
