Andy, is the limit of 1 Mb daily or permanently. If I want to post new photos, do I have to remove the old ones ?

Hello Andy,
I tried to reduce the size with paint shop pro but the quality turned dreadfull. This is a photo that has been scanned, before the age of digital cameras. Sorry
Greecemad
I was in Plakias last in 1987. The road into Plakias was then a winding road from Mirthios, which entered Plakias on the eastern end past the old Alianthos, much the same as in 1977. I don't think I know who Lance is and where can I find his photos? Where does the road come from now? If you talk about the stream that flows through the middle, that was there already separating the village near the Lefkogia Hotel, I think. There was another (stream) drainage near the old Alianthos which you had to cross to go to the beach. The old Alianthos is the only hotel you can see on the photo. The houses closer were mostly private but rented out as rooms for tourists. So was the one we were in, which you can't see, its left of the photo. We rented that all May for little rent, but then had to leave because the prices went up. Lefteris (who I think is the famous donut man) was a fisherman then and lived in a little house half way up that hill. I think you can see the roof just behind us. I am the one with the guitar.
Hope that helps your Greecemadness.

Very nice, my screensaver at work now is full of Plakias photos. No matter how many, there are always new aspects to this beautiful bay. God's own country.

Plakias / Soudha beach

[attachment=11:attachment]The little beach at Damnoni always was good for that sort of thing. In 1977 the rock in the middle of that bay was still upright.

Goodness, just had a look at this topic, biggest response ever. My advice DIY is not bad.    How is sleeping in your swag at the beach these days, windy  ?

No, or at least I don't know of any German broadcasting here in Oz. Wolfgang Ambross was going strong when I left Europe in 1979. I remember listening to the 'Watzmann'. Happy days mate.

Hi Pilch,
actually I am German by birth, but I admit I'm biased. Yes, I was glued to the screen as well. This was a very exciting game. The Aussies had trouble coming to terms with Jonny Wilkinson. "Jonny W...face" one of my collegues just called him. They are such good sports.
Well if you find anything better than Plakias, I like to know, cause I never did - and I looked. Here in Western Australia is a place called Margeret River, where there is a beautiful beach and a Greek chapel called Preveli. (Yes it is named after the place in Krete). That is probably the closest you get to Plakias (beach-wise). Better surf in WA so.
Have a merry Xmas

Has everybody gone into hybernation, hardly any news for weeks now. I presume you all think about father Xmas now. However here in Australia its almost summer and we think about beaches, sun and surf. Is anybody in Plakias now, skiing ?

I agree, Naxos is a very nice island, I took a motorbike and rode around the island.
But I also went back to Plakias for keeps. I guess, any holiday place is different for everybody according to their experiences, passions and physical comfort. Plakias for me had all those, nice beaches, mountains to climb, cheap food and booze and lots of romances. Also freshwater streams and very nice Greeeks. But even if I had'nt all that, I think the topography of the place makes it the most attractive I have ever seen, and I been round the world man.

Holiday Companies / how to!?

Yes, thats what I used to do. You basically spend the night on the boat, I heard some of the modern ones are quite "luxorious" (That is not sleeping open air on the deck) enjoy.
