I was in the same position Arnaki - why don't you request a change to the JET2 flights I have been moved from your strategic  for an additional £20 per person and no admin costs. I have cut and pasted the email

'We are pleased to confirm availability on our flights with Jet2 Airlines on the same dates as booked, departing Manchester 09.30 arrival 15.50 and departing Crete 16.50 arrival into Manchester 19.20.

Please note that the flight is £20.00 more expensive that the ones already booked i.e. you would incur an additional payment of £40.00 to transfer to this new flight but there will be no administrative charges for this.'

Well  - panic over - my flights have been changed to the earlier Jet2 ones  - I have had to pay £40 as Olympic say these flights are £20 more expensive - but I think its worth it.
Roll on September......

Thanks Karen. I have just looked on their website and they have an option of a  Jet2 flight arriving early evening at Manchester - it also seems a cheaper alternative - so hopefully this will sway in my favour.
Fingers crossed xxx

I've just looked online and my return flight has changed so instead of arriving home in the evening - i arrive in Manchester 4am the following morning. Whats worse is I have used all my annual leave in work so I would have to go straight to work from the airport!!!! I've sent an email to Olympic to see if they can help with an earlier flight, otherwise ill try asking for my deposit back. Wish me luck...

Greece has always been one of- if not the cheapest place to go on a package holiday from the UK. I have been to many other places in Europe but to me non compare. I do really hope that the greek government listen to their people = if that means its more expensive for uk tourists  - I still feel confident they will come - as i think there is no place better....

Where to stay / Re: Dora information needed.
« on: February 14, 2012, 06:11:33 PM »
I contacted the Olympic rep and asked him for a first floor room and he had no problem with this at all. It's just a short 'stroll' into Plakias and is well lit at night

Barny.

Hi Barney,
How did you manage to get the reps contact details? I was thinking of emailing  the Irida direct - but not sure who allocates the rooms
best wishes

I hope you have a lovely time John -I'll keep my fingers crossed you get a room with a view.

Why not try a special request for an east facing  top floor room with Olympic?
best wishes

Hello Peter and Dawn.

I am staying at the Irida in September - first time to Plakias. I haven't found many photo's of the views from the balconies but I am imagining the top floor would be best.

Could you tell me what the view is like and if the road noise is too intrusive - there has been mixed reports regarding this.

Also which room numbers are furthest away from the road and top floor - I am hoping to email the owners with a request nearer the time.

Many thanks

Where to go / Re: Lesbos - Molivos
« on: February 11, 2012, 09:52:26 AM »
Fantastic photo's - nice to see one of 'elvis' - he was very kind to us whilst we were there - we were lost on one of Lance Chiltons walks in a village in the hills above Anaxos and he happened to be passing us in his car - offered us a lift back.

We loved Villa Nikki taverna sadly i heard the man who owned it, has since died - he was such a great host and his wife was a fantastic cook .

thanks again

We loved Anaxos too - the walk over the cliffs to Ambelia beach really made it for us - we did it nearly every day and vowed to return to Anaxos to do it again. We went in May and the wild flowers were beautiful and the wildlife, butterflies, dragonflies, lizards, tortoises, even turkeys, were a plenty. The rustic taverna with the mural of a mermaid was simply gorgeous, greek salads from their garden and great coffee. I don't sunbathe nude but his is a great secluded beach to do it from - if that's your thing. Loved watching the locals on donkeys and the old man who every afternoon at 4pm would wade fully clothed in the sea for his daily wash - soap in hand. A fabulous place - thanks Lampyland for bring back great memories of it on a cold winters morning in Liverpool. I will return one day - but am looking forward to my first visit to Plakias in Sept before then. Nora x
