Plakias / Crowded Plakias?
« on: August 11, 2004, 10:39:31 PM »
Hi, my wife Lynne and myself will be ariving at Plakias August 31st for two weeks -we are definitely up for a night (nights?) with all you Plakias fans so please keep updating the site with the proposed date, venue & time. We had our first hoiday there last summer and I think we're hooked (it may take another 10 visits to confirm this though!)
Sofia was our favourite it can get busy but there is plenty of tables and the albanian waiters are nuts.
See you in September.

Where to stay / Costas Chrysoulla

The "wind" is common to many Greek islands  - we had a few days of it in Samos this October, but the good news is it usually goes as quickly as it arrives - 2-3 days is typical, if it's warm it is not unpleasant but watch your sandwiches on the beach!!!
I saw a book whilst on holiday in Plakias this year called "The winds of Crete" it explained the phenomena in some detail.
I'm sure you will have a great time whatever.

Plakias / Cheap Flights
« on: July 29, 2003, 12:00:33 AM »
Hi
We live in Leicester (yes I know  - somebody has to) and after a fab holiday in Plakias (June / July this year) we don't want to wait until 2004 before repeating it.
We hope to go for 7 days in early October (hopefully the weather will still be OK then - wont it?) and whilst appartments are available we want to know if there is any cheap flights available (East Midlands, Luton, Manchester or any London airport)
Anything considered including Athens providing we can get a connecting flight to Crete.
Thanks in anticipation.

Plakias / Mosquitos and Chemists
« on: July 28, 2003, 11:41:55 PM »
Hi
My wife and I visited plakias for the first time this year - last week in June + first week in July. We found no probs with the mozzies (my wife is considered a delicacy by most mediterranean mossies). I did hear that garlic put them off but it could have been the beer - (oh worship the Greek God Mythos), we found the plug in tablet heaters OK.
The first few days the famous winds struck and we almost regretted our choice of destination but after that they settled down and were no worse than any other coastal town. We grew to love Plakias and appreciate the "cult" following - so much so that we are hoping to return the first week in October for 7 days (any ideas on cheap flights? - appartments won't be a problem).
