WHERE ARE THEY???
« on: September 07, 2003, 05:02:28 PM »
I am very worried that nothing has been heard of from Compage, Ostraco et al since the fateful meal on Friday evening.

What can have happened to them all - Is it true that white slave traders have begun operating from Ali and Dave's supermarket, or did Mrs Medousa put too many onions in the stifado?

I have visions of turning up on Tuesday lunchtime and finding dozens of empty rooms and crates of unopened Amstel.  Oh well, all the more for me, I suppose.

Anyway - we are packed (hand luggage only, I'm afraid, so apologies in advance if we begin to smell by the 6th day) and can't wait until the 06:05 flight from Gatwick on Tuesday.  It is with the airline Astreus, which I have never heard of before, so I'll be able to post a review of them when we get back.  Hopefully, it will be a favourable one.

If anyone else is on that flight, I wish you a Kalo Taxidi.

From my experience of Medousa - they will still be there eating and chatting.

Glad to report everyone survived Friday evening!

After introductions all round and an excellent meal, we moved to Ostraco - downstairs, for coffee and more relaxed chat.

As numbers thinned out, we moved upstairs for further liquid refreshment.

No sign of anyone being spirited away - and as I was making my way back to Dora at 6 am, all was quiet contentment.

What a great evening!  We up for a repeat next year?

Yes I can confirm that we survived the occasion, and a great time we had too. Made some lovely new friends, although there just wasn't enough time/opportunity to talk to everyone properly unfortunately.
Didn't quite manage 6am like John as I had to escort a rather wobbly Marge back home just gone 5

I'm definately up for it next year, should be out there around about the same time.

We also survived ! Great holiday, great meal, great people - must do it again. It was great to put faces to names and we certainly had some good fun.
Ditto to other comments -  thanks a lot Ostraco for starting all this !! and to John and Valerie for arranging the meal.
Learnt two new things about Plakias apparently some of us are 'far enders' and a lot of people from Cheltenham go there !
Roll on 2004

Fran, Rosi, David and I would like to second the vote of thanks to John and Valerie for suggesting and organising dinner at Medousa.  We hadn't realised until the get-together that we had been sun-bathing next to Graham and Karen under the tamarisk tree!  We will certainly support any suggestion of doing it all over again next year though I'm not sure that we can last out until 6am the following morning!

Regards,

Allan

Val and me also failed to last the course, dropping out after a mere 5 or 6 hours!
Still haven't made it up to the Ostraco balcony!

Your thanks are much appreciated although it wasn't that much effort really.
I was very pleased that it worked so well and we really enjoyed meeting everyone.
I'll post in the 'Crowded Plakias' topic about next year and more about this year including pictures (when I've got them out of my camera and done some editing).

I'd love to read all the new posts now but I haven't even unpacked yet!
I'll be back!

Having finally caught up with work, family, pets, sailing club etc. I thought it was time to share my memories of "the dinner", although they are somewhat blurred!!
What a fabulous evening, night, early morning it was, well done John and Valerie.  David and I only stayed the course until about 5 am just missing upstairs in Ostraco (or so I'm told).
It was really good to meet such a nice group of people, put faces to names and make a lot of new friends, Virgins or otherwise.  However, we were a bit surprised to find Les Patterson visited Plakias, and then Petula Clarke turned up accompanied by Uncle Monty (alias Richard Griffiths, or was it HRH the Prince of Wales) (you all know who you are!).  Apparently I also aquired a new name, although I'm not sure why anyone would think of me as Pissedoss!

Anyway, let's hope the dinner will become a new "tradition".

Ostraco,
Thanks for a brilliant site, we've had lots of really useful information both from this board and also from the Links, and of course you also made it possible for John and Valerie to arrange the dinner.
Sorry we missed your last night, I'm afraid the one before (and the one before, and the one before.....) finally caught up with us and a relatively early night seemed the only option.
Look forward to seeing you and everyone else next year.

Jan and David

Right Jan - what a pain coming home. I think the only solution is to stay longer, 'cause at least you can put it off for a while.
I too enjoyed meeting up with everyone - some of which I'd been talking to on the good old 'net for years. And yes, I was surprised at the number of celebrities we have in the fold!
Here's to tradition! ! ! ! !
You missed my last night?  So did I - well, at least the last part of it. But everyone tells me I had a good time! We'll certainly have that drink next year - I still owe you an Ouzo and orange!
