We've just booked to stay at Stella Pension in September - yipee!! . I don't remember seeing the place when we stayed in Plakias last year so I was hoping someone could place it in relation to eg. The Allianthos, Medusa Restaurant or other landmarks.

Good luck in your venture - response to your ideas -
- 2 beds plus comfortable sofa bed
2 Single beds are fine - you can always push them together!
- Large secluded private balconies with sea and sunset view (even if this means slightly smaller rooms) (that is the baclconies will not be overlooked)
Good idea - clothes are an inconvenience to be avoided whenever possible.
- Solid well thought-out WC/shower
Yes - I'm always getting the blame for flooding the bathroom!
- Kitchen area includes microwave, kettle and good set of utensils
Microwave might be useful although we rarely cook while we are on holiday. A small freezer compartment in the fridge is useful.
- radio (TV??)
Never been tempted to switch a radio or TV on.
- internet??
Not for us - if we wanted to email we would do it from Ostraco's
Important for us is:
Plenty of hangers in the wardrobe
Enough drawer space
Shelves or a cabinet for toiletries in the bathroom

Plakias / Road to Selia - newly blacktopped

We drove down that road from Selia to Plakias in September and it seemed ok as it was - steep but some way from being 'white knuckle' stuff. I suppose the improvements will be welcomed by the locals and others using the road when the weather isn't so good.

We also enjoyed the one souvlaki pitta we had and at a good price. Pity we're not snacky people otherwise we would have eaten ther more often.

Thanks Allan. I suspect that our room at the Costas was much the same as R&D's so the Irida studio sounds ok. We will certainly consider Irida when we are in a position to book as it is probably a bit nearer to the far end of the beach and nearer to Damnoni as well.

Thought I would mention that rather than get the Plakias Walker's Map, in Plakias Market, there is cheaper (2.5Euro) and, to my mind, better 'Damnoni Area' map available in the Forum supermarket.

We can also post a vote for the Souvlaki House - we arrived at 11.30pm, with the memories of the in-flight meal thankfully fading. The veggie and souvlaki pittas were very cheap and very tasty. If it had been down to me we would have eaten there again. Maybe next year.
As for indifferent meals. Our only dissapointment was Sofia (A). The food looked lovely but was consistantly too salty for our taste.

Plakias / Spending in Plakias

Useful info Jan - I was using a Barclays Debit card and got 1.35. Next year I will check before I go as to which is the best card to take.
