Flight to Chania
« on: April 21, 2016, 12:51:25 PM »
We have just booked our summer flights this year into Chania instead of Heraklion......

The flight times were more suitable for us....but flying with Ryanair instead, hope this is a good thing!!

We used Ryanair Leeds/Bradford to Chania last year and have booked to use them again this September.
We have also just used Ryanair to fly to Palma Majrorca, yesterday.
They are basic, clean and punctual.
We have no problem at all with using this airline.
You get what you pay for.
Just don't expect to get anything which you have not paid for.

We used Ryanair for the first time ever last year flying from Dublin to Chania.  The flight was punctual both ways and the plane was every bit as comfortable as any we had been on before.
We are using them again this year and think that Chania airport is much less fraught than Heraklion, especially when homeward bound.  We would recommend Ryanair to anyone we know.

We booked Ryanair flights only with Olympic, and got an email regarding the online check in

"This must be done between 7 days and 2 hours prior to the departure of your outbound flight AND also between 7 days and 2 hours prior to the departure of your return flight. If however you purchase allocated seating, you can check-in online up to 30 days prior to the departure of your outbound flight AND also 30 days prior to the departure of your return flight. "

If you don't pay for the above, how are you meant to check in whilst on holiday, and print boarding passes etc ?

This nearly caught us out for a flight back from Tenerife....it is a Catch 22 as, if you have to check in before the time set, you have to pay for the seats and the free option isn't available. I had to go online very early on the day we were actually booked to fly out but we were only going for a week so I could (just) fit it in. It is a bit of a rip off but they know its unfair and that anyone actually on holiday may not be able to complete this. Is there anywhere in Plakias where the check in could be completed and the Boarding Passes printed - cant think of anywhere at the moment.

We use the Ryanair App to check in....It is available for Android and Apple products, do not know if it is available for Windows phones and Tablets.
Set up an account on the app and you can check in electronically from any free Wi-Fi and no need to print boarding pass as you download it to the app. Both Chania and Heraklion airports accept it and just scan the barcode on the screen. You can print the pass from the app if you can find a printer whilst away. Works really well and a good backup if you have already printed your boarding pass. Just visit the App store on Apple devices and the Play store on Android

Thanks to all, will download the App later today.

Does seem a bit of a con, as in order to check in (going, and return) 30days before, you have to purchase seats together. which then then enable you to do this.

We don't mind sitting apart......it was the cheek of being forced in to pay for seats because of the rules on online check in that annoyed me !
