Mirthios?
Title: more top photos
Post by: harribobs on August 01, 2008, 04:16:33 PM
that does look very much like Selia in the distance, but it's not the Platia or the Panorama ( i think)

therefore ( and i'm guessing) it's the Mirthios taverna ( on right as you come into t'village from plakias) but i have never been in there

About Kato Preveli: I spoke with one of the monks at the "upper" monastery and he told me that they will try to restore the place throughout the next decades and that one day there will be monks living there again...

Another question for 'arribobs

Have you climbed the ladder ?
Has anyone seen adventurous types climbing the shear cliff at the Plakias far end? Frightens the life out of me just to look at them

Yes, but they were always secured by a nice rope. There are a lot of hooks in the wall were they can hang on to. I never saw one that made it all the way to the top. Has anyone of you walked along the edge of the cliff's upper side? When will the big pebble [that is positioned right there] will fall down to the beach. Take care!

Last year I'm sure we saw a guy climbing, partially at least, without a rope. He went up one day putting hooks in the rock face and then came back the next day with a mate, this time both roped. I've walked along the top but, I've never enjoyed looking out over 100ft drops    so stayed well away from the edge.
