PlakChat / Favourite watering holes

As a newbie, I've been browsing the site and can't find anywhere that discusses peoples favourite bars, either for that afternoon cold beer in the shade or for a few nightcaps in the evening.

I've read a lot about Ostracos, which we found OK, but personally we favoured Antonios (is that the right name??) on the way back from the beach and NuFaro in town for the evening. The latter is run by Joe who is very friendly and ably assisted by a young lady from NZ whose name eludes me at the moment. Service was excellent and apparently he stays open most of the night, if that's your thing.

Anybody  got any other favourites?

Hi,  We go to Platia for our pre dinner drink, we always go there when we go to Plakias, try the B52 cocktails there, they are HUGE and last year we discovered On The Rocks, a fab watering hole near the small beach, last time we were there (Oct 2006), I literally fell out of the Bar, the ground came up to my face, I blamed my husband on tripping me up, not the Raki were were given to drink before we staggered back home.

They are really, really good, looked at Plakias Sept 2007 when we were there last....memories of sleeping Dragon! We are back end September for 2 weeks this time, cant wait.  Will browse through others later.

Can I borrow your time machine

Glad you liked them, might see you there in September taking my next batch

Oops....2007, meant 2006, was carrried away looking at them.  We are staying at the Alianthos Beach Hotel, we stayed Zorbas last year, loved it there, had an experience finding them after the Taxi Driver dropped us off though!

I have redone my website with some new gallery software.

If you fancy taking a look then head on over to Ploppys Pics.

You can sign up if you wish, there is a register link top right.
You will then be able to upload your own pictures in to your own album.

There are other things you can do such as make comments on photos, rate photos and send them as e-cards.

Have a look around and let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Paul

Where to stay / accomodation help for newbie
« on: April 19, 2007, 10:29:01 AM »
Sorry, I meant to say PLAKIAS!  I am going to Parga end June for a week, before our 2 week holiday in Plakias end Sept.

We stayed at the Erato on our 1st visit 9 years ago, it has changed since we were there last, it has a pool now and a non englist tour company.

I do admit is it a longer walk uphill to the Oasis, but after a few MYTHOS, who cares?

Hi Bobbi

Check out the Oasis Studios, they are located on the top of the road as you come into Parga, they are about a 10 minute walk into the centre.  We stayed there for 3 nights 2 years ago and they are nice, clean, there is a bar and pool and you can get food there, check it out on Interkriti.  And Nikos and Maria are really nice.

Hi

Went and booked our holiday to Plakias last weekend, and the only places available were the Alianthos Beach Hotel and the Alianthos Gardens Hotel.  The other studios were all booked up and this is for the 1st 2 weeks in Oct, flying 28th Sept.  When I checked on 12th December 2006, there were the Dora, Costas Chrysoulla and the Santa Maria available.

I cannot believe that the accommodation was fully booked.  When we booked for 1 week last year we booked the Costas Chrysoulla 6 weeks before flying and had no problems (we ended up at Zorbas).

Does someone know something we don't?

Anyway we have booked the Alianthos Beach Hotel for the two weeks and are really looking forward to going back to Plakias again.

Where to eat...or not! / Name that Taverna
« on: September 23, 2006, 05:59:36 PM »
Hi Im new to this forum lark, this will be our 3rd time in Plakias, the first being 8 years ago, the last was last Oct and we are going the 29th Sept for a week and really looking forward to it.  When we went the 1st time we went to the Mylos (Milos) Taverna and had some excellent food, I have not seen any one else mention it.  Also the "O Tasomanolis" Sunset Taverna was one of our favourites, we had some excellent fish there.

I have been reading the reviews about the Costas Kyrsoulla Studios where we will be staying and hope that we do not get one of the dodgy rooms that keeps being mentioned.

Really looking forward to coming back to Plakias, it's one of those places that you have to go back.  We loved it there when we went 1st time, it was with Inspirations Holidays who we went with.

Any way, no doubt bump into some one from the Plakias Forum next week.

Adios
