Hi Folks

Just in case you thought Harribobs had perhaps passed away and gone to heaven I thought it might be appropriate to explain his absence on the board.

Sadly Chris is confined to the house suffering from a rather bad episode of gout in his foot.

You might want to have some sympathy for the poor man who cannot move about very well nor has he access to the internet right now.  He has to resort to watching day time TV and I fear if he does not return to work soon will actually come to enjoy it!

I am glad to say he is on the mend and will be back on the board soon.  I know he is missing his fix of the Plak gossip!

Hope you are all well.

Mandy
Hi Chris

Just wake up and kick it off, mate. I can't be that hard. I get rid of mine easily. Gouts on the foot are quite common when you have as close relationships with them as I have (and sheep too) See pic[attachment=419:attachment]

Tom
PS Hope this will not affect your mountain-walking for too long. PSS

Our police and customs are to occupied to find the illegal weed greenhouses.
No priority for finding / locating home distilled products.
Did you know we are allowed to grow 5 canabis plants in our homes.
Most likely small scale distillation will be "tolerated" here as well.

Leen

Leen,

All of this is illegal and very inadvisable in the UK.

Mike
In UK it is also highly inadvisable and illegal to cross the street on a red light.

Here in between the mountains in the high north, every second home has its own illegal distillery. Methanol poisoning happens so seldom that they always get big headlines and high priority with the police. Not once in living memory (mine) have the source been a private still. The wood alcohol is always smuggled in and sold as pure alcohol in three or five liter plastic canisters. Mostly it originates in Spain and Portugal. The moral is: never drink alcohol that you have not made yourself.

I have had several trips to the "Far End" of Lofoten in order to cool down in the sea (11 C)   My tan has improved about 400 %

Tom

400%??    so that would be white with just a hint of blue???

Rather like a hint of diluted JUPILER seen through my almost translucent skin    but a "hint of blue" is considerably more than a hint when I have just come out of the ocean.....

Couldn't agree more I go to Belgium fairly regular, I love my Mythos but JUPILER MMMMMmmmmmm

The summer has finally hit Lofoten. For the last few days we have been suffering under a scorching heat approaching 15 C in the shade, cloudless skies and 19 hours of sunshine every day   I have had several trips to the "Far End" of Lofoten in order to cool down in the sea (11 C)   My tan has improved about 400 % and I have finished off my Jupilers    They accompanied my daily BBQs.

has it been any warmer over there?

Nope, 6 degrees this morning.   Only sign of summer is the tourists.   I recived a gift of Belgian beer today: "Jupiler" MMMMMMMM ah, not bad for a blond.    But I will save the rest of them for a hotter day.

I see Amstel is up a point or two again, Hurray.

I guess the lager consumption over there in Britain have risen to new hights the last few days, eh?  The heat is on.

you're kidding?...it says in he losmar book it has windsurfing.Thats one of the main reasons we are going. How far away is the bay that does do windsurfing?

The wind conditions are very often not suitable for beginners. Some of the locals have become extremely good, and only go out when the surf is up. They also go far enough out so they do not annoy swimmers. Damnoni is a 25-30 minute walk from Plakias, but the wind is equaly strong so be careful.

Interesting reply, I'm getting worried Chris, Do you keep her on a lead?

Hmmm...... Isn't there a slight difference between "posh" and "pooch"?

Tom

That's not nice, I'll stick to posh until I know better

Go Girl...

George

I feel that I have been misunderstood here. It is of cause my fault (blame me, blame me). I strongly question even the thought that a woman could be kept on a lead. Only pooches should suffer such degradation. Posh birds like Mandy should forever roam free and unrestricted through the world. Their choice of company is not my concern, even if they choose to to be surrounded by goats.

Hmm..    Now everybody, please do not misunderstand that last sentence.

There haven't been any comments about the mosies this year yet (unless I've missed them).
Has anyone had any problems with them this year :'(

But there has been a few comments about extraordinary winds, and in my experience the Meltemi is the best mosquito repellent you can get.

No I think it will be the one in the middle of the plain - very large indeed and definitely unfinished. It is not on any beach road - unless I've got my sense of perspective wromh (maybe ??)

i still can't think where this place is

Over the years I have gotten so used to the modern ruins dotting the landscap that I hardly notice them anymore. I would not have clue about which house you are trying to find.   On a clear day last summer I did notice, with pleasure, that a few houses that were left unfinished all throu the 80s and 90s had been completed and now was occupied by local families. There is still hope. Lets ask Hermes to contain kretaeindom and their like.
