Plakias / Get your money back!

Really? Damn could have saved a fortune    Reminds me of the days when you would take back your empty bottle of Corona Dandelion & Burdock for a few pence.

I'm surprised about your experience with the ultrasound mozzie killer Alfred. I had heard they weren't any good. I was going to go for the normal plug thingy with slot in tablets and a candle jobby for the balcony. What experiences has everyone else had with anti-mozzie devices?

I too can vouch for the pharmicist, he was very helpful when Margherita twisted her ankle plus he spoke some English which made things a lot easier.

On the doctor front, isn't there a form you can get from the Post Office to do with medical care whilst in Europe. Does anyone bother filling these in?

Yes we will definately pop in to Sophia to see Nikos, we were lucky last year because we went early in the season and he was still at Glaros although we didn't see him the first couple of times as he was recovering from an accident (something to do with too many rakis at a party the rumour went   )

Lefteris brings his yummy doughnuts to the beach most days. Which is your favourite? And remember 'A doughnut a day keeps all the doctors away' especially with 'Extra vitamina'.

Thats what we plan to do this year, visit a wider variety of tavernas. Last year we kept going back to Glaros, Ariadne & Medousa mainly because we were running out of dough and needed places that we knew took Credit Cards. But with the ATMs it will be different this year.

John did you go back to Glaros after Nikos & Stavros have left? I will miss thier baked Feta cheese with onions and peppers plus the Souvlaki a la Glaros.

Hi John,

Do you know if any of them will take Cirrus/Maestro cards so I can use my Switch card there?

Cheers,

Plakias / swimming pools

Hi Julie,

We are staying at the Nikos studios as well. I would say that the Alianthos Hotel is the closest to there a few minutes walk away. Although the others would only be an extra minute or two on top of that. There is the camp site in front of the Nikos studios which has a pool I think which you may be able to use. It has always looked pretty deserted to me but I did spy a couple of camper vans in there last year.

Hi Shelby,

I asked this in the old forum before it 'expired' and I seem to remember that you would be alright using the Alianthos pool if you were to say buy a couple of drinks or a snack there. Seems fair enough really. Probably the same at the other one (Lamon?). I never have used them though because I love the sea too much, beautiful when its flat, fun when its not!

P.S John, look forward to evenings/mornings on 'that' balcony with yoiu too

Where to stay / going to plakias
« on: June 25, 2003, 02:36:37 PM »
Hi there,

I understand your concern, I was as well before our first trip. But thanks to Johns website and a rather large Q&A thread in the forum we became more and more excited before we arrived. We weren't disappointed and have (and will continue to) visit Plakias as often as we can.

Hope you have a great time.

Plakias / September.. Cant Wait!
« on: June 18, 2003, 08:19:23 PM »
Looks like a popular time!

Glad you had a good time John (could it possibly be any other way?). I finally got around to replying to Ali & Daves e-mails last week, looking forward to seeing them again after we hooked up last year for many a mythos in Ostraco... sound familiar? Looking forward to more of the same with you in September
Does Pavlos in Kyma still want beer mats or is he sick of them by now? Oh and where does Nikos work, now that he isn't at Glaros any more? Has Glaros changed much since he has gone? Heck while I'm at it a few more questions... Still the same lads at Ostraco? Is this years First Choice rep as 'lovely' as last years?

Graham & Karen,

Bet your time in Peru was a great experience, a good fiend of mine has just this week gone off there for 4 months, me I'm a different creature... sun, sea, sand, good food, a cold beer and good company and I'm as happy as a pig in the proverbial.

Take care

Hi everyone,

Have been away from the board for a while due to pressures of work and a house move plus I wasn't sure if we could make it this year so I didn't want to depress myself reading about the great times everyone has been having!
But I'm glad to say we will be arriving on the 30th of August for 2 weeks, seems like a lifetime since we were there in June 02. Left it a bit late to book but luckily got a good deal staying at the Nikos studios... again!
Wondering if anybody else will be around then?

Regards,
Ploppy

Plakias / [split] summit of Timeos Stavros
« on: June 18, 2003, 03:42:28 PM »
Great pictures John

How long did it take you to walk to the summit? Must try that when we go in September. Not sure I will get Margherita up there though, not exactly a mountain goat, she managed to twist her ankle last year just walking back to the studio! Although copious amounts of red wine and Mythos might have exacerbated the situation

Ploppy
