2 weeks to go
« on: August 05, 2003, 12:36:37 PM »
I am going to Plakias - for the ninth time but the first for three years - on the night of 19 August for two weeks . I am staying at the Stella Pension .Most days I will be on the beach at Damnoni - stopping off at Stavros tavern both before and after the beach for some refreshment .I usually start the evening with a pre dinner beer  at the Livicon and most nights will eat at the Lysseos .After that - who knows ?
I would love to hear from anyone who will be in Plakias during that period - most messages I have seen indicate that September is more popular with people on this forum.

Hi Roger,

Well, Ostraco arrives a week after you and Ploppy and Marge on the 30th so you will not be on your own!

There's no-one else on the calendar but then neither are you!

Have a good time but leave some for us,
John Page

Many thanks .I am new to this forum and I have now found the calendar - but cannot work out how to put myself on there so if someone could advise then I will gladly do so .
I would be delighted to meet Ostraco and /or Ploppy and Margeduring our overlap time - or anyone else . In the absence of a specific arrangement look out for me at the Livicon around 8 30 to 9 - Dionysos , if he is still there , knows me

Stella Pension and evenings a Livicon.  That is us too - exactly. Tell Denis at Livicon to have lots of recapped empty beer bottles ready for us for our two weeks there  - 1st 2 weeks of October (a standing in house joke folks - DON'T avoid the place due to this remark)

Yes - one and the same. Not so sure that he took over so much as married the Owner's Daughter. He has built up a great rapport with our early October crowd and we are continually trying to outclass him in practical jokes. His favourite are the serving of watered down still coke as Brandy and recapped empty beer bottles. He hovers around to see and enjoy the reaction of the victim and a great time is had by all. We find him to be an exceptionally thoughtful and helpful guy with a great sense of humour.

I have not seen that aspect of Dionysos - ie the practical joker - but I have always found him very friendly and hospitable .ALmost invariably my first and last beer at the Livicon is on the house at his insistence , and he always stops for a chat each time I go in, I find it a very relaxing place esp early evening either on way back from the beach or pre dinner and a great spot for people watching and for looking out for people you know

That confirms my view of Denis. I first saw him as a gentleman and a perfectionist who cares that all his customers are comfortable, at home and satisfied. That is indeed the true nature of his character. However us Stella Pensioners (those in the 1st 2 weeks in October), the least likely bunch of people in town ever likely to create a scenario seem to have developed a rapport with him which has brought out his lovely and gentle sense of humour. Never would he play a "cruel" practical joke - everything is in context and in very good taste and (considering our maturity) - (!!!!!!) is fun for us all. I have observed him with other customers who he knows less well and he is the perfect gentleman striving to make everyone very comfortable.

The first time I stumbled into Livicon years ago I was - without realising it - severely dehydrated and asked for water - lots of it - he was so good and so concerned and so helpful that we went back the following evening and in fact every evening since (for many years) and we have developed a firm friendship with him - a friendship which seems to be equally shared amongst all our October - mainly Stella - group.
