Hello Plakias lovers everywhere.

Has anyone stayed at Paligremnos recently?
If so, what did you think of the studios?

Sorry I can't help - but I'm also interested.  As a 'far ender', I've often thought it would be nice to stay near the best part of the beach

Hello John.

We are also 'far enders' and have stayed at Paligremnos before but wonder what it is like now it has been upgraded.
We will be in Plakias from 2sep03 to 16sep03.

This will be our 5th (or 6th) visit to Plakias since our first time in 1991.
We got married in Aghia Galini in 1997 but disliked it so much we abandoned our accommodation and moved to Plakias.

Do you have any suggestions for car hire?
We'd like to drive from the airport to Plakias on 2sep and back on the 16th but will not need it every day inbetween.

Have you met Albert who does the walk down the gorge to Palm Beach?
Is he still doing the guiding?

Regards, John and Valerie.

I like the term 'far enders'!

We also are planning to be in Plakias from 2 to 16 September.  As far as car hire is concerned we found last year that Anso Travel were very helpful.  They hired us a car for two three day periods.  We picked up the car at the airport on arrival and delivered it back to the Anso Office in Plakias after 3 days and then picked up another car in Plakias 3 days before departure and left that one at the airport.  It cost us 183 Euro but this avoided the cost of two taxi transfers which would have cost 122 Euro in total.  So for the difference of 61 Euro (say £40) we had the use of the car for four full days at the start and end of the holiday.  I reckon that's a bargain.

We look forward to seeing you John and Valerie under the tamarisk tree at the far end!

Regards,

Allan and Frances

Thanks Allan, that's most helpful.
I've had a few quotes for car hire for the 14 days.
Anso Travel quoted E427 for a small car with a/c.
I'm considering doing the same as you, 3 days each at the start and end of the fortnight.

No info about Paligremnos then?
I've sent them an enquiry but had no response yet.

I hope we don't get banned by the administrator for off-topic messages!

Hi all

It's been some while ago since we were in Plakias so I have no idea of prices but we've always used Moto Plakias for car hire and always fund them to be very helpful and reasonable.  What we have done in the past is to book a car for some of the days and they include 2 transfers in the cost so that you don't have to drive from or to the airport yourself.  The are also pretty versatile on allowing you a car not en-bloc as it were so that you can have the car for a day or two, return it and then have it for a second period.  Their number is 0030 832 31785 or 31908 - or at least it was although I have read somewhere from John that phone numbers have altered for Greece so it's worth checking up on that.
