Stella Studios (Stella Pension as was)

Here on the Plakias Map

Stella Pension - now Stella Studios has gone upmarket in recent years even though the original product was more than excellent. It is a small hotel (only about 12 rooms) managed by the owners Stella and Yani with their son Marcos now becoming very much more involved.

It is located in the olive groves located directly behind the Livicon in a quiet pleasant location. The road past the Post Office /Fish+Chip shop - turn left then right gets you there - a very short walk.

Rooms now have full self catering facilities and air conditioning and a room safe - all a considerable change from only two years ago. Fastidious cleanliness is a major feature of the place. The fron rooms upstairs have a sea view and all rooms are excellent

Stella and Yanni have very little English but their Son Marcos is quite fluent. Despite the recently added (2005/6) self catering facilities they will still serve their (recently) enhanced breakfast for a very small additional room charge. Boiled (very) egg, bread + jam, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, tea or coffee - with fill ups is all served in the dining area which can be inside for poor weather (?) and outside for most of the time. The owners could not be more helpful or friendly despite their limited English and they welcome back guests year after year. Things for them have been difficult since First Choice pulled out as their accommodation was used exclusively by that firm. However an already superb establishment has made significant improvements since those days and hopefully will soon fill their accommodation with independent travellers who I am sure, like us, will return year after year. We have been returning there for many years and have no wish to try anywhere else.

Marketing is not their strong point but Marcos can be reached by email (intermittent) - brokalak@otenet.gr or phone 00302832031956

They do now have a website http://stella-studios.gr/index.htm

Friendly, clean and quiet. Breakfast comprises - bread, butter, jam, cheese, meat (processed), hard boiled egg, fruit, yoghurt, honey, orange juice and tea or coffee. Not quite the feast it appears as jam, butter, honey and creamer as in individual packs but more than adequate. We were pleasantly surprised that the water was hot whenever we wanted it, including before breakfast (we visited early Sept. and it was full).

Only a few things to add to what has been said already.

The self-catering facilities include a refrigerator.

The bathroom is quite small, and has no bath.  Shelf space is not very adequate for 1 person, never mind 2.  There are no towel rails, only hooks from which towels can fall off if not "robustly" hung.  There is no shower curtain, and this is the only major criticism of the place.

Breakfast is served from 0800-1000 in the seating area outside reception.  If you say "Καλημέρα" to the lady in receptioin as you walk past, she will know that you have come down from your room, and will bring your breakfast out to you.

Stayed at Stella for the first time, very impressed with the cleanliness of the place and friendly people. nice and quiet no road noise! not used to that! the only down bit for me was that even though the view from the balcony was amazing, it was impossible to sit there after comming off the beach as the sun was directly in your face, not a major problem for me but might be for some?
nine out of ten from me!

The website gives a fax no. which is the same as the no. given in the main article.  In fact, this number is not connected to a fax machine but an ordinary telephone (as the main article suggests).  The no. given on the website for telephoning - 00 30 6976751859 - is an alternative for telephone contact.
