Where to eat...or not! / Re: Lysseos

Ah Lysseos, without question my favourite eating place in the whole world!  Missed you so much this year.

Plakias / Re: Still hoping to make it this year!

After much deliberation we have decided not to travel this year.  We will sure miss our Plakias fix but the good news is we have been able to reschedule our EasyJet flights for September 2021.
Must say I’m impressed with EasyJet and how easy it was to rearrange the flights (it even gave us our extra legroom seats automatically).  We only had to pay the difference in fare which was pretty modest.

Booked for 22nd September with EasyJet from Edinburgh.  Usual accommodation booked.  Will just wait and see what the next few weeks/months bring.  Only missed 1 year out of 30.  My stock of metaxa is fast running out.

Obviously it’s for all the wrong reasons but must admit it would be nice to enjoy the beaches without the sun beds/brollies.  I’m sure when I first visited 30+ years ago there wasn’t a sun bed to be seen anywhere.

However hope it’s not too long before businesses get back to some form of normal.

Can’t think of anywhere better to be right now, but getting there is the problem.  Not so much the plane as the queues at security etc. not to mention the bus to/from the plane to terminal!

Booked for September.  Only missed 1 year out of 30 so fingers crossed.

Thoughts are with our friends in Plakias and of course it’s loyal visitors.

Holiday Companies / EasyJet Autumn flights

For anyone interested these are now available.  I saved a bit by getting up early but would say the prices are reasonable rather than cheap.

We too have used moto Plakias for many years.  Recommended.  If you don’t fancy driving from or to the airport they can provide a transfer.

I tend to agree the wind and the distance will put many off (thankfully).  Also the fact that there is no through road in Plakias.

The building work is very rapid, but when you’re on the beach itself you don’t notice it.  And at the end of the day the mountain and sea views remain the same.

Also had it not been for development in the 70’s 80’s we probably wouldn’t be here.  So we can’t really complain too much.

And yes according to the locals it has been exceptionally windy this summer since the start of July.

I can only agree the speed of development is quite something but otherwise Plakias itself remains largely unchanged.  But now the wind has dropped and the weather is fantastic - here for a while yet so hope I’m not tempting fate!

Yes, I suspect Olympic might pull out which would be a shame.  First brought us here in 1989 I think when I plucked Plakias out of the Olympic brochure never having been to Greece before.  Have come  independently now for the best part of 20 years.  Might cost a little more but picking your own accommodation and getting your choice of room is a big plus.

Maybe, but I cant tell what all the different languages are.  In our favourite eatery I know there were regular visitors from Canada, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, England and of course Scotland.

I suspect trip advisor and Facebook etc are taking over.

Anyway my comments from this last week.  Weather was strange for a few days and cooler than normal I think.  Beaches quiet.  Still a lot of familiar faces from years ago - both locals and tourists.

Bit of development going on here and there, but nothing drastic.

Still same old Plakias.

I have used Moto Plakias for many years and never had a problem.  They reply to emails promptly an provide a reliable service.

If you don’t fancy driving after the flight they offer transfers too.

Also it seems the entrance to the gorge has been destroyed and massive repairs required
