PlakChat / Long time no sea...
« on: July 08, 2006, 01:45:17 PM »
Well hello, can't remember the last time I was on here? Hope everyone is well!
I can't believe it's been 3 years since we were in Plakias! We were going to go last year- but I got an extreamley good deal for vlicha near Lindos in Rhodes!
It was lovely and not as busy as I thought it would be-which was nice. I've also just had a bouncing baby boy! So two sons now! Although I haven't posted in a while, I regulary look at the forums to keep updated. We would love to visit Plakias again in the future but looking at websites for accom, plakias only seems to cater for 3 persons in a room and I'm worried i won't be able to find somewhere to stay now there's 4 of us that's affordable as well? Unless I am missing somewhere?

Fraoula x
very sad to hear about the fire but glad no-one was hurt.

Holiday Companies / Plakias
« on: August 30, 2005, 06:41:14 PM »
Well I was watching sky travel last night when an advert for property in Greece caught my attention. In particular it was the properties and future developments in Crete that really got me listening.  ''Why not think of going off the beaten track on the western side of Crete, to Chania...or furthur south...'' and yes you've guessed it, where did they show? Plakias and it's surrounding areas.
I think development is going to be quicker than expected.

Where to eat...or not! / what still remains?& what's new?
« on: October 24, 2004, 07:56:39 PM »
I've been having a quick look through old topics and had trouble finding info about
what places are good to eat now in plakias and to drink I know where all the
original places are (that I know are still there) were there any new tavernas or bars that opened this year ? what are they like? Also what is the 'Hexagon' now? Is nikos souvalaki still down that side street on the left hand side of the Lamon hotel ? (Nikos is married to a lovely aussie lady!) Has the Meltemi ceased to exist (wasn't this year it's last)  And where's best to eat? I know the lovely Nikos works in Sofia, but I'm afraid I've never been that impressed with the seafront tavernas (sorry!!  ) And what are the prices like in Plakias now? What can I expect to pay for a beer and meal? I always remember it being quite cheap....

Holiday Companies / Argo holidays
« on: October 05, 2004, 12:42:40 PM »
Oh being a travel agent doesn't always have it's advantages.

Since August I have been trying to find out when Argo are bringing their 2nd edition out for 2005 and whether they will be contracted for another season with the Alianthos gardens.  In August I was told '..phone back beg. of sept...'
so I did, then I'm told end of sept, then I'm told middle of oct and I bet ya if I phone again I'll be told November :'( .
Please ( ok I'm literally on my knees here   ) If anyone knows Argo are  have their contract for next year  ( or can find out for me if your currently or will soon be in Plakias)

   It would be greatly appreciated
I need to know soon soon so that I can book my wedding

Ach I noo I sound desperate............

Where to go / What's new?
« on: September 20, 2004, 10:17:31 AM »
Welcome back to all septemberies who have arrived home this week!!
Apart  from the new holiday home development planned, which I think most of us are hoping  doesn't develope much furthur, is there any other goss you can tell
us?   ( anything please?! even if its about the Geese)!??

Ho have you read the write up Kosmar have given  Plakias ? Here's a few of my
    favourite lines from the brochure-

'Falling in love again, we never thought wecould!...But we did!'
' ...we couldn't help but be seduced!'
'..Previous visitors to Plakias are incredibly protective of ''their'' Place and many
view it as thier second home. Local characters include Lefteris the doughnut
man! Who legend has it has the freshest, tastiest doughnuts in Crete!
The locals welcome their foriegn visitors with open arms.'
' When the Gods looked down from mount Olympus, they certainley poured
blessings down on this part of the island...'

Too right it's mine.... sorry, ours
 Definatly seduced  !
And a beautiful place

 ......I WANNA DOUGHNUT.... :'(

PlakChat / getting married.......
« on: August 31, 2004, 11:50:22 AM »
Talking to the other half last night, we're still undecided on where to get married. Now we have toyed with the idea of a traditional wedding here in the uk or eloping to greece for a quiet ceremony. Both I would like to do ( but I can't have my wedding cake and eat it..) then the idea came to me... would we be able to get hitched   in plakias?  Now that would be the icing on the cake  ! With Plakias being the place where we first met  , I think it would be so romantic but I don't know if this is possible- so if anyone has any knowledge on the subject or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated  cheers!!

Hello there guys,
Just thinking about one of  my favourite celebrations in Greece; the Assumption of the Virgin Mary   (  or Panagia in Greek )  is there still a celebration held in Plakias on August 15th?

Where to stay / trust me, I'm a travel agent!
« on: July 14, 2004, 01:01:38 PM »
Now I Know you have been discussing this topic for a while now but working in travel does have its advantages. Don't know if you have already heard but
Kosmar are only dealing with the Apollo ( of which they are calling the 'Apollon')
and the Lamon hotel. Don't go phoning them just yet though they won't have any prices until their 2nd edition brochure arrives-I'm told this will be end of august beg of sept. Argo haven't got their contracts for Plakias sorted out yet either however they are certainley a bit pricier than other tour ops. Spoke to a lovely girl at first choice admin  word from their boss is that First choice were 'loosing' money
down in Plakias- if you can believe that?
