Just booked to go back to Kostas on 27th September 2011.  Couldn't resist the Olympic 72 hour summer sale prices at less than £300 each including extra luggage allowance and meals on flights

Hi may see you there as we go on the 21st for 2 weeks :-)  [attachment=756:Photo0017.jpg] Looking forward to seeing Mine hosts once again.

OOps sorry just noticed yours is next year

I know I'm a pain asking all these questons   but I read somewhere on the forum about the rooms to avoid at Kostas Chrysoulla, but can't find the posts now

I made a note to request Olympic to not allocate  me rooms 56 62 or 67, which they have confirmed they will do.

Also, does anyone know if they have Wi Fi there please ?

I hope I've got the right room numbers    can anyone confirm I have please ?

Jann
Hello Jann,

Keep asking the questions, that is what the forum is for (amongst other things). As I wrote in the Article System:

"Avoid Nos 56 and 62 as they have the worse balcony views I've ever seen".

Others will answer re. the Wi-fi, but I don't think they had it in 2006 but other places in

Mike

Hi

They didn't last year but were hoping to soon? :-)

Nice place to stay, very basic but clean.  Barman, Angelo, must be about the best in the business!

Kostas was a little down with the end of the season coming. I was shocked when he told me what Olympic pay him for each room. He wants to improve facilities but needs the money to do it!  Good luck to him in the future.

Will be going back!

Must agree with you about Angelo, he makes everybody feel so welcome and it made so much difference when I went back to Plakias on my own this year knowing there was somewhere I could go for a drink and meet up with an old 'friend'.  I stayed at the Dora this time as I wanted somewhere a bit quieter with better views (we were on the ground floor in the room next to the bar when I went with my partner to the Kostas last year) but it was great to be able to use all pool and bar at the Kostas.  Not sure how many rooms Olympic have on their allocation but I know that at least one other tour operator use them though they're not from the UK and you can also book direct.  If I go back to Plakias with my partner we'd definitely stay at the Kostas again and go back to see Angelo.

Hi Gemma1 I fully agree with you and hope to meet you again next year both at Kostas and Muses,

Hi Dotty, it was great to meet up with you and your hubby at Kostas and Muses.  Hope you had a safe journey back to Humberside.

Yes thank you Gemma. Safe after another lovely holiday in Plakias where it was great to meet up with friends (old and new) once again.  Trust you had a good flight back to Manchester?   Take care. Best Wishes to everyone who knows us.

Our transfer from Heraklion on 26th May was the transfer from hell. I was convinced we were going to Plakias via Libya . It took just under four hours. I was already exhausted from a previous nights drive from North Devon to Gatwick so that transfer dulled the enjoyment usually experienced when arriving in Plakias.

HELP!!!!
Has anyone else had experience this year of the Olympic transfer from Heraklion.
We are due to land at 14:50 on the 18th August and I am in two minds about risking a long slow transfer of hiring a car from the airport.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Peter&Dawn (only 58 days to go)

Hi to answer your query, we went  for the first time with with Olympic in May. The flight landed half an hour early so in Heraklion for 03 .30 we were in Plakias for 07.00 they provided a mini coach from Rethynmon to plakias as there were only 6 of us. Hope it goes the same for you.

Hi all,
Just wondering if any former Olympic user can tell me if KC supply hairdryers in the rooms?

Dotty
Simple answer: YES!

However, ours was wired directly into the wall ... or should have been, if there had been any screws in the faceplate!

If you can ignore standard Greek electrical installation, it's powerful enough to dry a full head of hair in a few minutes.  The boss had no complaints.

Personally, my hair was dry after sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine .... but there isn't much of it.

Thanks for that Chas   Less to carry now.   More room for suntan cream.

Hi Shaz,

I am sure if you look around there will be books to exchange. We have found most places where you stay do this. You may find them on a window sill as at Stellas. Enjoy your holiday.

Where to stay / Aretousa Appartments

We are just back from Plakias after a 2 week stay at the Kosta Chrysouslla apartments and I will give an update of the (marvellous) holiday later.

We are now looking to book for next year in late September and are looking at the Aretousa Apartments with Kosmar.
This will mean that we don't have to use the mad house that is Heraklion Airport.

Any one have any details/ has stayed at this accommodation?

We had a look round outside the Aretousa last week but did not see inside them.
They looked good from what we saw and are in a quiet area.

Hi Daniel

If you want to go late September with Kosmar I advise you to book NOW. Especially if you fancy the Aretousa which we think are the best of the Kosmar Apartments.

Good Luck and enjoy

Hi Everyone

We will be staying in Paleochora for a couple of days next month and our plan is to  take a ferry from Paleochora to Hora Sfakion and then drive to Plakias. We are looking for accomodation for one or two nights. Something not too big in a quiet location would be great. We don't need fancy but something around mid range would be great. A balcony would also be welcome, especially if it had a bit of a view. I have read quite a bit on this board but am still unsure what would be our best bet. Have heard good things about the Horizon (any thoughts?) and the Alianthos Gardens has been highly recommended but is it quite big and crowded? We arrive around May 22nd or 23rd. Finally how easy would it be to just arrive and find a place on chance!
Thanks so much
Bobbi

You could try our one and only favourite - Stella Pension. Definitely quiet (about 12 rooms total, breakfast optional and with self catering facilities. Ultra clean with air conditioning and quite good views from front top floor rooms - with balcony.

Contact Markos at brokalak@otenet.gr for details / bookings, website http://www.stella-studios.gr/

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Hardly a day goes by without me looking at the latest postings so I feel I know many of you even if we've not met. Here's hoping that Plakias, changing as it must, remains the 'home from home' that it's become for many of us.

While I have access to a computer I would just like to second that message and add, A Healthy one too.
