Couldn't agree more AI not good. I have to say that info I got was passed down from a few so could have got distorted, as things do. Yes, there are plenty of apartments available that look ok, we have looked at a few for future reference.  Hope you get sorted.

We are in Plakias at the moment, the word is, that KC are going AI to attract other nationalities? Olympic are now using the Apollo apartments, nex door to KC.  It seems that Olympic are winding down in Plakias?  This would be a great shame.  Since they stopped offering transfers, we have gone the independent route, so easy and not much more than a package from Olympic.

Hi  I also saw those offers and decided to try them out.  I booked a holiday to Syros and got £150 discount, super.  It would seem to work OK.

Cheers  Tony

I understand through a Plakias Facebook page, that Elspeth (Olympic rep) will not be in Plakias next season.  It seems that Olympic have decided that Plakias does not warrant a permanent rep.  The rep service will be handled from the head office Reythimno? And if needed urgently needed customers will have to ring up?  This seems to be a way of cutting costs.  So, what will be next?? A worrying situation.

We have had the same problem with Olympic, no transfers flying from LBA, so we are going independent next year its so easy and works out cheaper should have done it before but better late than never.

Plakias / Re: September update
« on: September 29, 2018, 10:37:03 AM »
Been here for 11days go home next Tuesday.  As has been reported some dodgy weather and there is more to come currently the sky is very grey and the wind is still strong.  The thunder storm the other night was violent with associated heavy rain.  Today we have a Red Alert for thunderstorms, so will wait and see.  Seems like the cyclone has got us.  Much of the islands have been effected also, with tales of ferry and flight cancellations.  With any luck our flight home could be effected and we have to stop here, what a shame.  Notwithstanding the weather, we have and will continue to enjoy Plakias.

I guess we are much the same, I regularly check the forum for news and was wondering why it was so quiet. We missed our Plakias "fix" last year due to a long 3 week tour around Italy.  But, we are back this September for a couple of weeks.  Looking forward to seeing the changes and enjoying seeing our old friends. Plakias has still "got it" as far as we are concerned.  Hope everyone continues to enjoy it.

Having had to miss our Plakias fix last year,  (due to a tour around Italy)  We have rectified this for 2018.  The special offers from Olympic can be quite good.  So we will return in September flying from Manchester as Olympic seem to have a problem with LBA.  Also new for this year is yet another airline, Air France are the carrier for some flights to Heraklion.  Will be different, possibly moules and frites?? on board. well I can live in hope.
Looking forward to meeting old friends and seeing what is new.

Holiday Companies / Olympic rep saga
« on: July 10, 2016, 03:14:38 PM »
This topic get more interesting as the season unfolds.  We were in Plakias for the first week of the season and met Dominik the replacement for dear departed Les ,  we both said then that we did not expect him to last, nice lad but unsuited for here.
We came back on 28th June to find Dom still here, surprise surprise, but he told us that he was leaving he could not stand it??? so he put in for a transfer, OK, next thing Dave had arrived and Dom was showing him round, this was Monday this week.  Fast forward to Friday, we bumped into Dom with a new face, we were introduced to Tom, it turns out that Dave had done a runner, resigning from Olympic and leaving immediately.  So Tom is the latest in the hot seat.  Those of you coming next week, we go home on Tuesday 12th will have to look out and see who the rep will be.  It's just like a soap opera but less exciting???
Oh yes, the wind is very strong, but it's nice and hot been between 30 and 35 most days.

Enjoy

Plakias / Re: What's Changed?

The roadworks seem to have finished, although there is still some finishing off to do.  Re bar Platia, it is no longer there, last year the shop was divided between the bar and a tourist type shop, this year the bar has gone and it is now ll is all shop.  Rain has gone and been replaced by sunshine all the way, lovely.

We are in Plakias at this moment, having arrived on Tuesday.  We were surprised at the number of changes that have taken place since our last visit in May last year.  As has been reported, the little Gyros place has gone, the tavernas on the front have had mixed fortunes, Coralli is open but only tables and chairs outside with no covering and no apparent building work going on, Sofias is up and running and yes, Babis is back working at Sifis, we spoke to him today and he told us it was good to be back and that he had had some personal problems last year, he looks well.  Gorgona is just staring to be rebuilt so no action there, Muses is complete and working hard at trying to get people in, not ideal in my view, I prefer to make my own mind up so avoid the (chucker inners)  Ostrcio is open and fully re-built, the cafe on the end (cant remember name) is another with work in progress.  One other café is missing, Argo has gone along with the bakery, the main bakery is still operating though.  Kri Kri has undergone a major makeover and looke very smart and modern not been in yet but will do before we return.  The pharmacy has move and is now where the Argo bakery was.  Not much else seems to have changed.  Oh yes we have had some really manky weather, heavy rain, high winds, lots of showers today, but the sun is out now.  The new Olympic rep is called Dominick and seems a nice boy, a bit nervous as you will expect, but seems competent, tie will tell as he has a hard act to follow.  Enjoy your holidays everyone, it's still Plakias as we know and love.

Cheers Tony.

Plakias / Re: Les
« on: June 13, 2015, 04:22:50 PM »
Just to elaborate.  I don't disagree that Les is a cut above the usual reps, I have always got on well with him, but, the problems I mentioned regarding the missing information board, Les was well aware of and had said twice that he was going to replace it.  Regarding the info about the return transfer,  Yes it comes from Olympic, but Les is Olympics face in Plakias so surely is responsible for making sure that all customers are informed in good time.  We only found out on the Monday and that was a single sheet of A4 that had been left behind the pool bar.. I was not too bothered for us, but those people who were visiting for the first time were unhappy.  Waiting for the transfer coach, we were talking to a couple of first time visitors who had never seen Les, they were not told where the Kostas Chrysoulla was and could not find it!
We will still be coming again next year and will be buying Les a pint as usual.

Plakias / Re: Les

We have just returned from a wonderful fortnight in Plakias.  Unfortunately we were not impressed with Les.  On this, our sixth visit we stayed at the Irida Plakias Studios.  Maybe because they are a 15 min walk up the main road? but we never saw Les at all (apart from the welcome meet at K C. and only once around the harbour).  The notice board at the Irida had been damaged apparently and Les was going to replace it?? In the two weeks we were there it did not happen. Talking to other Olympic customers in the Irida ( who were first timers to Plakias) they were unhappy, on the transfer coach they were given details about the welcome meeting, but no details of where the KC was situated and perhaps worst of all no idea of pick up times for departure.  We also had to pay a visit to KC to find out the departure details, not too much of a hardship as we had a drink with Angelo.  I believe that Les has got complacent and forgotten that we are customers of his employers and should look after them ALL.
We still had a smashing time though.  I am not sure what the first timers thought though.

Very sad to hear, we will be there next week and hope to help in some small way.  Big changes seem to be afoot? we will have to wait and see.
