Back from Plakias
« on: January 12, 2004, 05:09:40 PM »
Just reporting back after our Christmas visit to sunny Plakias. We had a great time, the weather was pretty good we had a few nice sunny days with the temps pushing 18 C during the day and around 14/15 during the evenings.A couple of day,s rain (including Xmas afternoon)and some cloud.Still managed a couple of day,s swimming in the sea including Xmas morning (before the rain).
As usual everyone made us so welcome spoiling us with invitations to have meals with them at home.
News on the building front is that the Meltemi has at least one year stay of execution .
For all you other travellers Flying to Athens then on to Heraklion/Chania is No problem with the fare being reasonable.

Hello John,Not a lot open as it happens although we found everything we needed.
The supermarkets, butcher, baker are of course always open for the locals.
Manoussos was open unless he happened to have one to many. A couple of the bars were open during the days and most nighte including.Ostraco.Taverners and Kaffinions were open in most of the surrounding villages.Favourite hit was Manolis Taverner at the crossroad in Kanavos,We had a couple of fabulous afternoons their.

Hi Ken & Kathy

Thank You for your very interesting informations.
But one question more: Did you stay in a Hotel or in a Private Studio/Appartment/Room?
Did you stay overnight in Plakias or in a surrounding village?
