Hi, this is my 1st posting. My wife,Pauline and I 1st went to Plakias in 1996, I can't remember the name of the Apts. we stayedin but they were at the end of the road leading away from the beach opposite the harbour. We absolutely adored the place and vowed to come back again so we have booked for June '05 with Olympic and are booked in the Dora Apts, please can someone tell me where they are ? I remember a steep concrete road leading up to Myrthios and can only assume Dora is off that road somewhere as it looks pretty steep in the small brochure photo!
When you refer to the "farend" do you mean to the left when looking out to sea? If so that was one of our favourite spots as I remember there being quite a bit of shade under some big trees and also a taverna there which was pretty good during the day.
Back in 1996 we made friends with a couple who owned a bar/restaurant just alittle way around the corner from the harbour in the Souda direction called Theo & Maria(I cant remember the name of the bar), are they still there as they were talking of getting somehere further along the road near Souda?
Just one last question, where does the transport from the airport drop us and how far is it to the Dora to walk?
Look forward to hearing from all you "Plakias lovers" and hope someone can answer my questions!

Dear Marmaliser - welcome to the site. Dora Studios are a little way back from the harbour but if you have booked with Olympic, I'm sure they will take you to the studios so don't worry about walking. The Far End is to the left as you look at the sea and the Taverna you remember at that end of Plakias is probably the Paligremnos. As for the trees - they are still there providing a cheap alternative to sunbeds/umbrella

Many thanks for your reply...........Does anyone know if Theo & Maria are still in Plakias?
Is there a map of Plakias showing the hotels/apts/bars/restaurants etc? even a hand drawn one would be useful.
From the Apt. we stayed in in '96 we could see in an olive grove to the side a small church which was locked and did not appear to be used during our stay, it was fairly new, is it a private church?
Look forward to any replies, thanks again.

We were in Plakias September 2004. Theo & Maria are still at "On the Rocks" but they are having a new place built right on the sea further along the road to Souda, when they will move there is anyone's guess, as builders are involved!

When we talked to them in October 2004 they were confident that they would be in for the beginning of this season.  I think he said that he had to be in  - there seemed to be  some pressure to facilitate the move somewhere along the line ? It is surprising what gets done re building work in Winter.
