We have Just spent 14 hot and sunny days in the inner Hebrides - North West Scotland where at times we were hotter than when we have been at Plakias late September / early October. It was glorious - it is our other regular (20 years plus) bolt hole which came up trumps this year !!

Have a great time Harribobs. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about the road improvements from Chania to Paleohora - I worry that it will be so easy to get to Paleohora that it will see a big increase in the number of tourists and will be spoiled. We went there last year (day trip from Plakias) and thought it was quite congested then. With a better road, I would think it will be much busier.

thanks G&K

i've done the road many times in the last few years, i always thought it was one of the best through there, certainly easier than getting to sfakia. i just try and take it nice and easy

i'm going to waving to noopsy as they come back when we arrive

The road is quite good, and they're still working on sections of it, busily laying down the tarmac.

At the moment the town is uncrowded, and there are very few people on the beaches.  Of course it may be different at the height of summer...

Καλό ταξίθι!  You've arrived at just the right moment: wall-to-wall sunshine, temps in the upper 20s, and no wind.

Has Lefteris been seen on the beach this summer? There was no sign of him when I was there (May 6-20) although someone said they had seen him playing backgammon somewhere. He seems to be starting later and later each year.
