Kalimera, the Kotsifou Gorge was closed for work at the end of October 2023.

On March 13, 2024, there was a landslide, since then the gorge has been closed in both directions.

The problem is that there is no specialized company in Crete for this work. There are 5 companies in Greece.

There are reports in the Cretan newspapers from time to time. But nothing is happening...

The problem is probably that there is no company for this work on Crete, only on the mainland.

There is also a lack of clarity about how to proceed. It seems to be technically complicated...

I assume that the road through the gorge will be closed for some time to come.

Best regards from Hamburg, kv

Kalimera DandC, I wouldn't assume that the road will be clear again in a fortnight. It's probably technically very complicated.

?It is recalled that following a conversation between the Mayor of Ag. Vassiliou with Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his recent visit to Gerani, the Prime Minister was informed of the impact of the landslide, with the Mayor sending him a detailed memorandum to explore a long-term and radical response to the safe link and its funding options.?

I wish you nice days in Plakias, kv

Kalimera, according to a newspaper report from yesterday, the Kotsifou gorge is to be reopened to motor traffic in September.

Specialised teams have already cleared the mountain of dangerous rocks.

Kalimera, the Deputy Governor of Rethymno, Maria Lioni, accompanied by executives from the Director of Technical Works of the Regional Unit of Rethymno, inspect the construction sites in the Kotsifou Gorge during a joint meeting.
