Thanks for the information so far. It's no problem when a city relies on tourism it's just the way they approuch the tourist. We hate employees of restaurants that are pushing you to eat in their restaurant. We think Plakias is the right place for use to stay when we read: sit, eat & drink and watch the children play :-)

Where to eat...or not! / Child friendly restaurants.

As we are traveling with two young children (2 and 3 years old) and would like to go out for diner every night, we would like to know if there are restaurants that are very child friendly? Maybe there are restaurants with a small playground (which we enjoyed very much in Pefkos-Rhodos)? Or restaurants with a childrens menu? Are there a lot of different restaurants in Plakias like indian, chinees, italian food or are the most restaurants serving traditional Greece food? All information is ver welcome.

Where to stay / Plakias resort and Plakias suites.
« on: December 25, 2012, 10:13:39 PM »
We are staying on Crete from June 2th till June 16th. As we are traveling with two young children (2 and 3 years old) we are looking for a nice, modern and child friendly accomodation/appartment with at least 2 bedrooms. Downtown, shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants on walking distance (max. 20 minutes). And very important: a quit town not full of tourists and employees of restauarnts that try to get you inside for diner. We we looking on tripadvisor and booking.com and thought Plakias resort and Plakias suites fitts our needs. The suites look great, it's small with 6 appartments but there are no swimmingpools. Plakias resort has a playground and toddler pool. Appartments are avverage (less design then the suites). We doubt about these two accomodations. Are there members on this forum who stayed in on of these sites? If yes, how are your experience? Maybe some members have some tips for other appartments with two bedrooms that are great and that we didn't think about? Your feedback is appreciated.

Gossip / Introduction.

We would like to introduce our selves to the members of the Plakias forum. We are a couple living in the south of the Netherlands and we are traveling with two young children. Our son from 3 years old and our daughter from 2 years old. Last year we have spent on of our holidays on Rhodos. We stayed there the first two weeks of May in the place called Pefkos. A small town far away from the tourists towns like Rhodos city. We and our kids had a great time and were 100% sure we would go back this year. But.... Ryanair cancelled all flights from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to Rhodos. That's why we looked for other options and decided to go back to Crete (we have been there as an couple 5 years ago). We booked our flights today. Flying with Ryanair from Brussel/Charleroi on June 2th and flying back on June 16th. Price and flight times (important with small children) are great. We are looking forwward to our holiday and hope to find a lot of information about the place we would like to stay: Plakias. We will post some questions in the other topics.
